Here is a shot of where the roof sits for now, I have a lot of work to do before it doesn't leak in the rain. Cargo floors, crossmembers, and rockers to come hopefully later this summer after I get the Syncro mobile. |

That is great to hear. Please continue this thread with all your updates as it motivates others to work harder on their buses. _________________ American Red Cross Safe And Well:

This poor thing has been pushed aside for a few years and has finally received new brake lines, master and wheel cylinders, shoes, cables, new gas tank, and etc. The engine stops at some point when hand turning so I am assuming valves are stuck. I dropped my 2387 in it to take it to MSRA Back to the 50s weekend and it was a hit! So many people couldn't believe it is driveable. And the typical people shouting rev it up while cruising thru the fairgrounds were obliged.

I have some torsion ends I got off the Samba already, thanks for the offer though. I will sleeve the inside of the torsion tube and seam and plug weld the new ends back on. Here's the Double that I cut this bus up to fix

I have a really rough camper that was used as a parts bus for my x-double cab. Im going to repair the torsion housing and need some measurements, hoping someone could help me out. What is the measurement from the face of the frame to the outermost face of the torsion housing where the cap bolts on? And degrees from 0 of the casting to the frame.
As found
|
14 mm
|
I don't think he meant 14 "mm" but rather 14"cm" ???

Thanks for the measurement. That will get me started, I can pick the angle up from a picture I have. The bus has been in those woods for twenty years, it was parked for a long while before then too. My friend who is the one with the chainsaw in the pic, bought it when he was a teenager. He drove it around the yard till it locked up and they parked it. We always figured since it wasn't a westy not worth it, or any number of excuses. I seen him at Back to the 50s car show here in St. Paul last year when I had been out of vw's for a long time, he told me I had to get another one. I didn't think he meant this one. I was driving this at the time.
