Rack and mudflaps look great! Thanks for the update.
At least they're inside and out of the elements hibernating when you're not using them. _________________ Brandon |

I threw on some mudflaps too earlier this year, I think the rack came out pretty good. I've always liked the look of a Westy rack.

I ordered a wood kit and a few reproduction clamps from Greg at Vintage Warehouse.
The aluminum tubing was wasted so I went ahead and replaced that too.

Back in April of this year I traded my buddy an extra dropped Model A axle I had for this original SO42 Westy rack. Thankfully it had three original clamps.
One of the bows was pretty tweaked but I got that sorted out.
I was also able to save all the stanchions that had questionable threads.

I haven't updated this in long time. Still cruising it around, I hit up a few shows with it last year.

I love this bus so much, this has to be my favorite US camper conversion. That flooring is so damn cool!! The trim detail is off the hook. Glad you made the connection on the manufacturer. The brochures are killer.
This bus will buff out so nicely! _________________ Brandon |

Myself and many others couldn't ever figure out what camper kit this thing had installed. Luckily a few months back Oakman posted this picture in another thread and I figured out it's actually a 1962 US Campmobile kit. That made sense with the timeline history of the bus. I was told the camper kit was installed in Juarez and these kits were manufactured in El Paso according to the literature. Fortunately a good amount of the interior is still in great shape, but I need to replace the wood on the cargo doors and some of the paneling in the cargo area.

Nice detail pics on the Fulda spare too - it looks like it's in great shape. |
Yeah I wasn't expecting it to be that nice under those covers, pretty wild.

I think they're GT radials, they were whatever discount had in stock in that size at the time. I might put some 6.40s on it later on, I like that look on stock buses.

I've heard about these Butty's Bits throttle kits and figured I would give one a try. They make they pedal feel pretty nice but I'm still not sure how I feel about it, I might put the factory style linkage back in.
I still need to clean up the outside, I haven't even washed the paint yet. I rubbed on a few spots with some water and with the chalky oxidation removed it looks pretty good under there. It'll be interesting to see how it looks polished and waxed. It's pretty thin in some places, but some TR3 should do the job carefully.

I went through the dome lights and have them working nice and bright again, the bus is still 6 volt.

It's been running and driving great, I've put a little over 400 miles on it around town so far.
Few shots at a local car get together:
