What oil should I place on my Type 3 engine

Oil: Basically it doesn't matter.

There is an oil filter in the bottom center of the case but it's just a little screen, not a big filter like you may be used too on more modern cars.

You clean and re-use it when you change the oil.

I recently purchased a 1970 Squreback. I want to know whats the best oil for this engine. Does this engine also have have an oil filter?
