An update:
I recently bought this Sinka from Rob (driverfound).
I have plans to restore it back to original (some what close, I have some other visions for it).
After much investigation, and looking hard at the physical evidence and vin/ m codes....this is in fact a 16" syncro.
The build codes under the seat read:
48 7 64004 H0 2450 9A
96090R 355
HG 048 808
Translate to ( Syncro 16, JX turbo diesel, LHD)
Vin stamp and vin tag read and match (WV2ZZZ24ZEH064337)
The original color is a OD/ olive green (still cannot find the color code for it)
There is a buch of parts locked in the treasure chests (like both rear trailing arms, struts, brake disks, and dash..from what I see through the filler hole),
Tomorrow I will try and un lock the doors...
More to come, I will be documenting the restoration process (more current, and quick postings will be done via facebook and Instagram @ Jonathan Rall, Integrity Auto )
..let the fun (I mean blood sweat and bucks of money begin)!! |

Good it was saved from the crusher
But now, tell us: Is it really one of the genuine 33 SIKA Syncro 16? _________________ 1991 VW Multivan syncro 1,9 TD |

That's really great, it would have been a real shame to see it go to waste. I know we need them in wrecking yards for parts but that was too rare to scrap. _________________ 1983 Diesel Vanagon Westfalia chassis with Subaru 2.2l |

Interesting. I agree with Ms.Taboo it could be a 16. It certainly looks as though it had flares on it from the wheel well staining. If that's the case it certainly is worth saving. The Syncro 16 single cabs were the rarest of the 16s. |

Yes it is sad to see. If I had any room at all I would have tried to get it out of there. It is pretty much just a shell, but i would love to sit on it until I could put it back together. |
Did you notice if it was a 2wd or 4wd? The fuel filler locations 2wd: front wheel arch; 4wd: just forward of the right rear wheel arch (on a truck) |
