Latest issue... trying to figure out where I can order an exhaust exactly like the one installed. All I can find are them exiting the passenger side. My exhaust exits the drivers side. Can the system be reversed?

Few brake issues going on right now. Elongated bearing holes, worn brake pads, worn rotors

So I read about 30 minutes ago that when installing the VDO cylinder head temp sending unit onto your #3 spark plug, you remove the spark plug crush seal first.....
I did not do this...So I went and removed it really quick and now my temps are running about 50 degrees less, give or take.....Does this make sense or did I just mess something else up? Lmao |
I run a Dakota Digital unit and it has always performed just fine with the crush washer on the plug. _________________ '78 Westy - 2.0 FI |

You need to figure that out before adjusting the valves. Plenty of previous threads discuss how to check. _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

Zero lash, think of it as zero tension Zero clearance.
Back off the adjuster until there is noticeable shake between the pushrod and rocker.
Spin the pushrod with two fingers while tightening the adjuster until you feel a slight drag.
Now back the adjuster out until the drag just goes away.
This is zero lash.
Turn the adjuster in 1 1/2 turns and lock it down.
Warning do not rotate the engine. The valves at this point are held slightly open. Due to the hydraulic lifter pressure needing to bleed down. Rotating the engine at this time can cause the pistons to contact the open valves and bend the valves.
Wait until you can spin the pushrods with your fingers.
Note:if the lifters do not bleed down. Let them sit overnight. If they are still tight in the morning. You have Solid lifter. Adjust accordingly. |

When adjusting my valves for zero lash, should I my push rods spin freely or not? I've read where you adjust till the valves are at zero lash and the push rods spin freely and then I've also read where you adjust to zero lash and then give it up to another 1 1/2 turns in. Which is correct? |
What kind of lifters are you running? Solid or hydraulic? _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

Adjusted the valves. Seems to be better but still running hot (375-400) at 55 or 60mph _________________ 73 Thing

So the bus had a great Summer! Few car shows under the belt and ran solid!
That being sad, I'm running hot (400 degrees) at 55mph or faster! Any ideas? Cooling tins installed, timing correct, flaps opened in safe mode. I don't know!! Making a huge trip to Florida for Florida Bug Jam in November so this is my next issue to tackle! _________________ 73 Thing

if the floats are black hard shell foam replace them and the flooding will stop. If they are brass they rarely go bad. _________________ "Most people don't know what they're doing, and a lot of them are really good at it." - George Carlin |

Update:
Installed a new Needle valve in both floats and now i'm not getting fuel in my exhaust over night! So no more fuel in the oil and no more fuel in the exhaust! One of the spring loaded balls was stuck and wouldn't spring anymore so I just went ahead and replace both. _________________ 73 Thing
