| Yeah everything would have to be replaced but at least I can tell how things were routed to begin with. It also sounds like I have the split condenser system. I like the idea of the overhead system as I think it would be more efficient. |

My 71 came with A/C and I took it all out. I have the ceiling unit, the hoses, the evap, and a few other parts. The only thing I'm missing is the compressor. I have no use for it, message me if you want to make a deal. _________________ It will make it. Trust me.

Sounds like it's better to start fresh in your case.
There's at least 3 different A/C systems from different manufacturers like DPD and VWP (Ccoool), some have the single large condensor, others have a split condensor with 1/2 across in front of the beam and 1/2 under the bus. |
X2.....
your hoses are now junk and the receiver/drier needs to be replaced any time the system is open to atmosphere any longer than it takes to swap a component (like no more than 30 min) the desiccant bag in the drier is wasted when it's opened to atmosphere
you should really study up on automotive a/c....it's not cheap and you do need at least 3-500 in (cheap) specialty tools to diy the system. you are working with high pressure stuff that will ruin your life if you mess up.
68bahamahyellow did a nice install of the mid mount. it's a lot of work but when done properly it does pay off _________________

| I have the front to back hoses for the most part, some have been cut off. drier is in place, and mine has a front undermounted condenser but the brochures show a mid-mounted condenser and at some point mine was removed. Hoses are still there, is the only reason I knew it had it at all. |

it was a LOT of work...but I did it right when I relocated the fuse box. it ate a lot of time, but the results are worth it _________________

| Hey, any of you guys have stock air conditioning for your bay window? I recently bought a '77 with factory air however some pieces are missing (under-dash evap, compressor, bracket, belt drive) and I'm trying to locate the missing parts but I'm having trouble finding pictures of exactly what I need. Also is it possible to install a over head a/c evaporator in a bus that had the dash mount? Has anyone tried? Can you run both? Any help (pictures) is appreciated! |
