Ken Madsen @ TheBusco http://www.thebusco.com/

Avery's Air Cooled Washington State https://www.facebook.com/averysaircooled/

Chris @ The Busted Bus http://bustedbus.com/

Jim @ Interstate Used Parts https://interstateusedparts.com/

I use Ken - he is reasonably priced and shipping is reasonable too.

I think you could just use cordage there instead of a rod, that way you could adjust its length easily while saving a few ounces in weight.

When I go to a wrecking yard I just gather up whatever nuts and bolts I see laying around and may strip others that I think I will have a use for in down the road. Automotive bolts will in general be a pretty high quality bolt and you can get quite an assortment of lengths. several times I have been able to buy buckets full of bolts that the wrecking yard personnel have collected and only paid scrap value for them.
