YouTube video from a spectator's home movie camera "Put-in Bay races 1957", road race in the village on the small Ohio island South Bass Island due east of Toledo in southern Lake Erie. Was probably using the common 8 mm film format, thus the low resolution and lack of sharpness.
Composite of a red and a blue 356 contacting haybales at a sharp corner of the road circuit.

Some 356 which participated in the Coppa della Alpi based in Italy this past March. This rally event/commemorative race runs over the Italian Alps and briefly into Switzerland. It started in Brescia and ended at Ponte di Legno.

Yellow 356 C Coupe in background, TV show "Adam-12" episode "Purse snatchers".
Ivory 356 parked in spectator lot, movie "Fireball 500" (1966). Race track looks like Riverside International Raceway in Southern California, though not listed in IMDB.com.

Triple composite shots of black 356 Speedster, movie "Coming home" (1978). Driven here by main character played by Bruce Dern, with Jane Fonda as passenger.
Black 356 Coupe parked at left in Venice, California in '80's TV show "T.J. Hooker" (episode not recorded). "Cookie cutter" 911 alloy rims, making this likely a 356 C with the "narrow 5" bolt pattern.
Red 356 B parked at left, TV movie "McCloud" episode "Showdown at Times Square" season 6 ep. 2 (1976). Main character Marshall Sam McCloud (Dennis Weaver) is driving. Takes place in New York City.

From the YouTube video "Porsche historic footage 1950s-2000s racing cars": 356- mostly B's- lined up for, then racing at the AVUS circuit in West Berlin, Germany with its characteristic high banked turn in the background.
Starting off*:
During the race:
*The round-front Hotel Avus is still located at the northern end of the former circuit, though the banked turn has been demolished. Current GoogleMaps view- |

Movie "Dragstrip Riot" (1958). The roadster at right front is a British-built AC Ace, which a few years later would be the basis for the AC Shelby Cobra 289.

These photos are screen shots from a YouTube video "Porsche historic footage 1950s-2000s racing cars".
Porsche 356 Gmuend Coupe, 356 Coupe; and 550 Spyder returning to the Porsche factory grounds after participating in the 1954 Mille Miglia road race in Italy. The 550 Spyder #351 finished 6th overall, and won its class Sports Cars 1.5 Liters. Its drivers were the Germans Hans Herrmann (at the wheel) and Herbert Linge (passenger). The 356 1500 Super #229 won its class (GT 1.5 liters) driven by Porsche's Richard von Frankenberg and Heinrich Sauter. The VW barndoor Kombi race support bus in background. I did not find a listing for the (unmarked) Gmuend Coupe; possibly it was a race practice pre-runner..
Blue 356 Speedster driving to the LeMans race circuit in France, leading several 550 Spyders which will participate in the race. My guess is 1955.
On the LeMans circuit just beyond the Dunlop bridge.
Composite photo of 356 A Carrera GT Coupe #33 participating in the 1959 12 Hours of Sebring (Florida) circuit race. Car finished 11th overall, winning its class for GT1 1.6 liter; driven by Porsche's own Huschke von Hanstein and Carel Godin de Beaufort (Netherlands). |

There was a black Speedster in Coming Home (1978). One of the characters, either Bruce Dern or Jane Fonda, drove it into a trash can in one scene. |
I just watched/skimmed though a low-quality version of this movie, saw the Speedster in many scenes, but did not see the trash can. I took many screen shots but it'd take lots of enhancements in Photoshop to get them even marginally acceptable. Instead, here are a few shots from IMCDB which nearly match my screen shots. It's driven by Mr. Dern.
IMCDB shows this '55, which I missed in scanning through the movie.
I also spotted a red 356 B Coupe in the background as character Jon Voight drives off in the white '68 Shelby 500 GT. |

Composite photo of a red 356 B Convertible, movie "Doc Hollywood" (1981). The 356 A Speedster which main character Dr. Ben Stone (played by Michael J. Fox) drives at the beginning of the movie is actually 2 different replicas, and this 356 B at the fence crash scene. This 358 B appears to be genuine.
From YouTube video Eric Seltzer home movies Los Angeles 1967 - 1970. Mr. Seltzer with his black 356 Coupe parked. Bonus Karmann Ghia Coupe in background.
Composite photo of three 356 Coupes, movie "Maybe I'll come home in the spring" (1971). Actress Sally Field is hitchhiking. |

Green Pre-A 356 Coupe, British movie "Checkpoint" (1956). The car race is the actual Italian Mille Miglia, likely 1956 I think at the Brescia leg. I could not find its race # 50 in either the '54, '55 nor '56 MM race results.

356 A Coupe parked in city, German movie "Abschied" (1966; means "farewell", sounds like "UP sheed"). Mid '60's VW Type 3 next to it.
YouTube video "Porsche historic footage 1950s-2000s racing cars" shows a red 356 B Coupe following a Porsche Diesel tractor pulling a laurel-decorated wagon with winning race drivers, among them is Dan Gurney (standing, tan sweater), Stirling Moss (blue blazer), possibly Wolfgang von Trips (sitting, cap), and Jim Clark (standing, green sweater). Possibly Bruce McLaren partially hidden in front of Mr. Moss. All were Formula 1 drivers in the 1961 season for many different manufacturers (notably Mr. Gurney for Porsche). The silver car following the 356 is a French Facel-Vega (with Chrysler V8 engine).
Composite photo of a black 356 B Convertible, and red 356 Speedster in movie "Hollywood Knights" (1980). That's a chopped-roof custom copper-colored Beetle in background. |

Screen shots of several 356 in a YouTube video of the 2024 California Mille informal road rally, held on 1000 miles of scenic and twisty roads in southern California. Event is open for cars built thru 1957 (built prior to Jan. 1, 1958) and was held in late April.
Seen from one of the participant's cars, with the 356 Coupe ahead of a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing.
