Bummer he's selling, but understand. I've liked following this thread.

Tough to put a value on a mid-project like this. I can't recall if it ran/drove before going under the knife. A 3.0 engine rebuild could be $10-20k.

Would also be good to get an overall scope of all the metal work still left to be done. So much has already been done, but someone is going to have to pick up where things were left off.

Don't blame him, that was an incredibly difficult project to take on, and he is my hero for trying to save such a through the mill car. Will be hard to find a guy as skilled as he to continue saving this car, and if found will cost a fortune in labor

Good evening all, with all good things sometimes they come to an end. My friend that owns this Porsche has decided to sell the project. Could any of you recommend the best venue for him to sell it on? Thank you

One more step closer to tightening up the metal work. Im super happy with how this front cowl and lower door turned out.

Its amazing how many nights it takes to fix these corners. Much like donkey said "its like a parfait, got layers". Tonight im hoping to weld in the drivers side rear window lower and the drivers side lower door repair. BTW the lower door had the same foam filler in it. I would really like to talk to the tech that did that. Such an rookie move.

I also started on the passenger side repair

Working my way to the back of the SC, these area's are pretty tough to do. Not a flat area or easy access for sure. I continued to cut out the rust and prepped it for fresh metal. Once the metal is installed i will be coating it to help with future rust prevention. Who are you all using for the moon roof drain tubes?
I think using steel on these were a silly idea for sure!

Good evening all, I have not posted much lately but here are some of the updates. I was able to salvage the original DS fender with a bit of metal work. Any chance i have i try to keep the original metal i do my best to do it. This time it worked out well. Now onto welding in the panel just inside of the fender.

Lower skirt is all set, Im super happy with the fitment from the Restoration Design panels. Amazingly accurate! Once welded in I did a coat seam sealer on all the joints. Now on to the drivers side fender for some love. These next steps will go much faster than the lower skirt did.

I need some help from some you 911 folks. These plates were already removed when the vehicle arrived to me. There appears to be three different bolts to hold this in. Can one of you please advise me which ones go in which holes? Thank you

Making some great progress over the last few days. All the metal for the lower front skirt has been massaged and secured against the front panel. I am going to let the panel bond cure over night then i will start spot welding around the edges. Since each piece builds on the one below this process will take a couple of days to complete.

Good evening all, Ive been gone for a bit while traveling. Glad to be back and back at it on the 911. Tonight I was able to rough fit the new lower panel into place. I will need to massage the metal with a hammer and dolly to get it perfectly dialed in. Then i will burn it into place with both a welder and a spot welder. I still need to make a couple of patch panels for a couple of rusty bits. making progress none the less. Until tomorrow night.

Back to the surgery on the 911. Made some great progress on the drivers side. So happy to find only minimal rust under the drivers side fender. I even feel I will be able to save the driver fender. By the end of the month I hope to have most of the front done and ready for bodywork. By the way the wet look is because I coat everything with ospho to stop the rust.

WOW! Shocked
I admire your courage. Looks like that car was sitting in a swamp for a few years. You said you were going to eat ‘this elephant’ one bite at a time…when I read that I was thinking that’s exactly how the rust was eating the car! Very Happy

Good luck, I’ll enjoy watching your progress!

Cheers,
J.
