| After speaking with the rebuilder, I was told to run it for a few minutes to break it in. I put it in gear and hooked up the shifting linkage and started it and let it run on the lift. after a few minutes I was able to shift and get all gear with a terrible gate pattern. Tomorrow I'm going to adjust the shifter linkage and replace any worn bushings. |

Back to the Builder if you can't even get those gears with no linkage attached... _________________ '68 Westy- my first VW and vehicle/Bus- long gone.- sold it to a traveling Swiss couple....

I just swapped out my 4 speed on my 86 Vanagon , the original problem was no 3 gear or trouble getting into 3rd even with the linkage disconnected, shifting by hand. So I coughed up the dough and purchased a professionally built rebuild. with the van up on the lift the new one won't shift into 1st or 2nd even without the linkage attached, shifting by hand. I'm waiting for a call back from the builder.
Any Ideas???? |
