If I keep it, yes. I have a 67 Westy that doesn’t have any mounts. _________________ 1967 SO42 |

The blue/white is the bag for the tent. Shattock is thier last name. The owner was 30 year navy guy, so the daughter said he did that to everything , like his sea bag. He also put the color coded tape and labels on all of the poles so he would know what they are for. He only marked the toilet and pole bag. _________________ 1967 SO42 |

Finally got a chance his morning to get everything out. So I have know this older couple for 15 years. For the last 10 years the wife told me that her parents had a 62 bus camper that they bought new. The bus was long gone, but she though she “ maybe had a toilet or something “ in her dads old basement. Well I forgot all about this as it hasn’t been discussed for last 8 years. They called me this
week and said she found the toilet along with the tent. I was blown away. I went over and bought it immediately. She is now looking for old pictures, as she swears she has some from them camping in early 60’s. They used the tent until 1965 then it went into her fathers basement until then. I think I have all of the pieces? Only 4 pieces of tent material so I don’t know if I am missing something? It is in amazing condition. Toilet looks like new. Tent looks almost new, no big stains, zero rips or tears.
Anyhow, great score, and always keep your ears open, things are still found.

That's basically the same way I found my grey/white tent. Guy's father had a Westy back in the 60's but sold it and his son found the tent/poles in one of their barn's years later. Talking to people about buses is the best way to find stuff you don't expect.
BTW, you may want to have Everett move this to the Westy tent thread:

Amazing score and story on the tent/toilet. The most important factor in buying any toilet is that it is new and unused.
Interesting that the black painted poles appear to have some earlier galvanized parts.
The black poles started 60-61 so maybe Westfalia was using up some of their older 59-60 galvanized parts? I don't think I have ever seen this before. _________________ WANTED:

A few more reference pics on restored EZ Camper for others with a similar vintage - note "small" dining table, which I think was a modification at some point (maybe taken off the door?) as I haven't seen any brochure pictures that don't have a big dining table with a flip-out leg. A few things I think are typical on EZ camper .. all the doors are oval with chrome edging.
Seat coverings were re-done by a prior owner, and I assume floor was as well - I seriously doubt that it's the original vinyl floor - but if anyone has an EZ camper with that same floor I'd love to know!
Non-original Westy repro rack on the back - need to do some work on the hooks (currently have duct tape wrapped around them). And yes, I know a '65 panel van didn't leave the factory two-tone but I like it better than it would look as a factory-correct full pearl white version...

Thanks for the compliment! I'm in the process of taking the bus back to being a weekend camper after former owners have basically had it off the road for a very long time.
I'll have to investigate behind the ice box door panel - thanks for the idea. I know the icebox was modified at some point b/c the water reservoir pump was changed out. |

One more camper for the thread...'65 walk-thru panel van, converted by EZ Camper. Van was refurb'd in 1992 or so (I think).
California and EZ Camper tags indicate it was #373...mfg in 1965 (Panel Van is a 65 model year that arrived in CA late 64 according to mcode plate).
Interior panels are mostly original (I think) with the exception of the icebox that I'd like to re-panel - either that, or EZ Camper REALLY used whatever they had lying around to do panels.
Few forum questions:
Anyone know a reasonable match for the roof and wall paneling on EZ Campers like this one? Would like to re-do the icebox.
Has anyone seen this "short swing-up table" in the back...or was that moved at some point in the van's life from the door to that location? (there is not one on the door which is why I suspect the swap) It actually works well for just 2 people sitting in the back.
Also curious if the bed mechanism is original although not actually important because whatever is in there appears to work fine.

maxgogetter, IMO if original images are in the gallery and connected to useful threads more builders/restorers/patina savers can keep their buses alive and near to what the factory built. The best advice I ever received here is don't throw out anything until you know what you have such as if it is German VW items keep it post it discuss it and if you don't need it for your build get it to those who can use it to keep more buses alive. If you come across such items post in a separate thread. If you have original camper EZ as you have continue to place images here if useful for identification. Others will chime in as needed.
You can always start a thread of your project to keep it archived during your build.

As far as I can tell, this thread is the only one I have found where they have the exact conversion pictures of my van, although. My van doesn't belong in here. lol. I will do some clean up this weekend and post pics and see what is said. |

Scroll near the mid to end of page 1 and you will see your EZ Camper.
Also to keep a great thread alive and well post more pictures of yours and of course always put the images in the samba gallery.
