I have two 911s...one is a 70e with carbs...does fine. Second is a 75S and has fuel inj. A few days ago I noticed a miss..mostly at idle and a puff of smoke. Pulled in into the shop and niticed raw gas leaking out of number three cylinder?? Pulled the plug...dripping. Pulled the injector, turned the key on..not cranking, just on. Gas shop clear across the shop and the fuel pump souned like it was in afterburner. Had a spare regulator..same thing. now all cylinders are shooting like that. I've been a mechanic all my adult life but have never seen anything like this. I have manuals and this shows up in no area. I 've had fuel pumps fail on numerous cars...but mostly they just get weak or quit. Anyone had anything like this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Jack Question

The 1973 to 1982(?) cars had CIS injection on them that run at very high fuel pressure rates so having enough umph to squirt quite a ways could be normal. Soaked plugs on the other hand is not good.

A miss could be a clogged fuel injector but that much fuel sounds more like a fuel distributor issue. If the fulcrum plate gets sticky then it may call for way too much fuel than what is required at idle.

Do you have a pressure gauge you can put in the fuel rail to see what is happening?

Yeah...had a spare fuel dist...same effect...going to gage it tomorrow. To cure not having it to drive for a while I bought a 90 Corvette today. Had a 77 and an 84 till a few months ago and kinda missed them so got a great deal on the 90. My problem on the Porsche sounds like the fuel pump is just screaming....shreiks like mad. I've been calling a few Porsche shops but most are just snobs and when I metion I have a VW shop they choke...real jerks.
