Where did they come from? What vehicle were
they originally used on?

they are aftermarket carbs they were not used on any stock vw

I was told by a an employee from kustom 1 in anaheim, ca, that the kadrons were designed for the vw engine,
webers were designed for the fiats

Some sources (VW books, magazines) indicate that Kadron carbs were used on Brazilian "specialty" cars. They were indeed designed for the 1600 cc type 1/2 engine. Kadron also made headers, mufflers and other assorted gear for VW and other marques.
