Hey gang,
I'm working on a project and need a list of all of the motorcycle manufacturers that are currently selling their product in the US.
I'm just looking for the big boys and am ignoring the smaller customisers as that will be getting in too deep.
I know just about ZERO when it comes to the motorcycle world, so I apologize for my ignorance.
Here is Ebay's list of motorcycle manufacturers- would yall mind filling me in on which one's currently sell in America, which ones are considered more of a custom builder than a manufacturer (which ones to kick from the list), and if there are any that need to be added, to pipe up?
Thanks in advance, here's the list:
American Ironhorse
Aprilia
Big Dog
BMW
Boss Hoss
Bourget
BSA
Buell
Bultaco
Desperado
Ducati
Harley-Davidson
Honda
Husqvarna
Indian
Kawasaki
KTM
Moto Guzzi
Norton
Royal Enfield
Suzuki
Titan
Triumph
Ural
Victory
Yamaha |

Awesome- Thanks Grimace!
Yeah, I forgot to mention that I'm looking for street legal bikes only that are currently being sold in the US.
Any other comments would be appreciated if anyone has some manufacturers to add or subtract from the list. |

Are they a fairly large manufacturer or a custom shop?
About the smallest I need to go would be the motorcycle equivelant of Lotus sized...
Thanks for the input!!! |

Roger Bourget is a custom builder however I do believe he does (mass)produce small quanities for dealers. I have seen them around a few bike dealers along with Iron Horse models. |

So would you consider those builders that GeorgeL marked as "specialty" to be in the same boat? Customisers that mass produce small quantaties for dealers? Do any of the ones marked as custom do this as well?
Thanks a million yall!!! |

After checking his site, I'd call him a specialty manufactuer. He does build standard models in small quantity. Kind of a baby Buell... |

I noticed the lists do not include Bimota. Are they not in business anymore?

BSA and Norton aren't in business any longer - from what I understand they went out in either the late 1970s or the early 1980s.
Royal Enfield motorcycles are currently made in India. I've heard that they're not bad. I knew a couple of civilian contractors in Iraq who owned and liked them. They looked pretty sharp.
I looked into getting one - it looks like their dealer network here in the 'States is very small.
Avoid MZ if you see any around -they're old East German bikes.

MZ is now MuZ and their bikes are actually well designed and powered by quality Japanese-made Motors... the blue smoke, 2-cycle 50-cc days of Comrade bikes are over from them.
The made in India Royal Enfields are pretty crude bikes. Some of them are diesel-powered! _________________ David Ruby

I thought Victory was a division of Polaris. They sell the Vegas Jackpot which was designed (don't know how much) by Arlen and Cory Ness. |

I stand corrected. I was actually thinking of Star Motorcycles, which is the "ersatz Harley" division of Yamaha. |

well had a weird thought.. scooters.. many different manufactures of them & street legal... & larger ones do have to be licensed & tagged as motorcycles... first one that comes to mind is the Stella from genuine scooter company http://www.genuinescooters.com/
