Check the fuel injection out using the How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive procedure. It's meant to be idiot proof. If you don't have it you should get it. The money you save on repair bills will more than make up for the cost. Get the Bentley manual as well. A couple of books will save you a-lot of trouble. Other than that I'd say its likely you have a bad or disconnected tempetature sensor. If the engine thinks its cold it will inject more fuel. It could also be a leaking cold start valve(the third injector), a leak in the manifold pressure sensor hose, or any number of things. First look for the obvious. If a hose is leaking or worn out fix it. If a wire is disconnected find out where it goes. In other words if theres something not quite right that you think probably wouln't be the problem you could be wrong. It does'nt take much to throw the fuel injection off. OH and I should have mentioned first. Make sure the valves are adjusted and the engine is properly tuned before assuming somthing is wrong with the fuel injection system.

Joshua! Very Cool and Acurate! I went snooping under the hood if the old beast and everything looked GOOD. But I looked closer to plugs on the Temp Sens.II I noticed it was pluged but one wire has come off the Plug (that means it aint working). So, off to the grave yard to cut a couple off to replace a the other one on the cold start valve. THANKS MUCH
