Hi yall,
Have a 71 bug and the headliner is in good condition still. It is white with some water stains and a little discolored (probably dirt).
I know this question must of been asked before but i cant find it.
Is it true you can spray paint your headliner? do you clean it first? id be afraid to mess with it physically. Maybe you use a special "DYE" ?..or some other special technique..etc..
Tell me what you know !!!!
Thanks
Eric

I've never sprayed a headliner before, but there is spraypaint formulated for use on vinyls and plastic.

The PO of my car painted mine somehow. You can tell on the edges that it used to be white, now it's a dark blue. Looks pretty good too.

It is dark as hell in there though....Looks like they used a brush on it, not sprayed....

There's not a single brush stroke on it though Dave. Trust me, I've looked. I'll try and get some pics up soon.

The SEM brand dyes work very well. They make a cleaner/ prep product as well...though I've never used it, it sounds like a good idea.
