which end did you check with?
bug torsion outters are the same as barndoor inners
bug torsion inners are way smaller and wont work.
these torsions i used were off a 59 bug.

they had a spring plate of a '53 with a torsion bar in it

so i took it off and the bug plate fitted rite on.

i dont want to change the torsion bars as they are ok. just the spring plates and if the bug ones are the same it makes it a lot easier Smile

barndoor torsion bars rear:
inner: 44 splines, outer diameter 36.3mm
outer: 48 splines, outer diameter 39.5mm

(the number of splines is also listed in the service manual.)
