It depends. Width, length. Ball joint, link pin. size of wheels, size of tires. size of gas tank. weight of seats. Also, a dune car, or a desert car. If the rear end is stock irs, swing, or if it has extended arms.
This rail weighs in at about 2500 lbs. It has a twin turbo northstar engine, full suspension fox king shocks, 5x5 rear end, huge a arm front end. this one is a desert car.

my 2 seat rail, 1200 CC, split case trans with RGBs and 35" rear tires, weighed 1300 with me in it. lady at the truck stop laughed herself silly while weighing it. I could pick the front end up by myself, two people could hold it up. _________________ 73 Beetle Baja, Ghia front brakes, Type 3 rear brakes, 2220 ( 94 X 80 ), Weber Progressive, Bosch SVDA, '97 Mustang seats

| To be more precise: I was thinking / asking about the basic older type rail with longer arms to give about 10 inch travel. 235-15 tires. A mild mannered machine for a family expedition car. From the replies, it sounds like I coud expect a weight of around 1500. |

A friend of mine has a Hi-Jumper frame stretched to 120" wb and widened 7" (room for 4 suspension seats). He runs coilovers all around, bus trans, Honda V6, fiberglass hood and sides, aluminum roof, no spare. He said his weighs 1900 lbs drivable. _________________ "In any racing engine, the nearer you are to it disintegrating, the better it's performance will be"

Yeah, it works very well where we ride. I'm building a pretty similar buggy but with a 4 cylinder GM ecotec which I want to turbocharge later on. _________________ "In any racing engine, the nearer you are to it disintegrating, the better it's performance will be"

Wow lostinbaja! I thought my 2 seater was light at 804 pounds. 790 is really light for a 4 seater. _________________ Bad News Racing 2018 NORRA 1000 3rd in Class

That's a great looking buggy! What kind of frame is that? |
It's a short cage Appletree frame built from .055 chromoly. I put the bare minimum on the buggy. It does have coil over rear suspension as well. _________________ Jerry...
