I picked up a set of these things with the mounting brackets today from the scat booth at pomona. The owner and his daughter susan helped me out, I explained to susan that I had a bone stock 65 with the original seat rails with nothing welded in or anything and asked if these would slide onto the original rails and she said of course. Well it turns out that I was scammed, I cannot for the life of me figure out how the hell these can possibly slide into the original rails.
Is there a way to do this? I refuse to weld into the pan. I paid $300 for the set and really regret not just restoring an original set of seats myself. The seats are 240 each on their website so I got a deal on them but for me I have no use for them and its driving me absolutely crazy

Does anyone have any experience with them? I didnt have much money for this car and $300 is a lot for me to spend at once so ive been fuming for the past 4 hours about losing it.
I cant really tell what that part is, would it bolt to the bottom of the chair I posted and act as a rail?

If you look at the photos of my seats they come with rails that bolt directly to the seat. Can I drill a hole and bolt those directly to my pan?

| My bro put scat low backs in his 65.... It's doable. Not sure exactly how he did it, but I know he didn't have to weld. |

That is great news, I know bolting to the pan is dangerous so I wonder how the hell he did it.

Hey PBAJWABB,
I think you need an additional adapter piece (see pg 74 on this link) http://www.scatvw.com/dl/2011/61-80.pdf
Its called a seat adapter, and it looks like you only got the seat tracks. If that was the official Scat booth give them a call tomorrow and you should be able to straighten this out with the vendor. In my dealings with Scat they have been pretty good and helpful.

Agreed! Call scat you need an Additional part or different track. My tracks bolt to seat and the 3 bolt holes goes to the track that slides on a std pan seat tracks ill take a pick for you on the morning.

That would be a huge help, thank you so much! I'm just so lost, I don't know how to weld so I thought I was stuck with seats I couldn't use

A more than 10 years ago I bought some used scat procar seats. I called Scat because I needed the brackets for my 67 bug and was told by Scat that they no longer sell brackets to use the stock seat tracks on a bug because they aren't safe. They have some other method to mount the seats. I ended up making my own brackets and welding them up from a spare set of stock seat parts I had.

Thanks so much for that picture, the seats didn't have any in the box.
The picture shows 3 parts: the seat, the 2part sliding mechanism that bolts under seat, and finally the rails that bolt to the pan. It says that the sliders will slide onto the stock rails but I can't seem to get it right. If I have the stock rails do I need the third part? I have the seat an the sliders that bolt to it but I don't have the third part that seems to bolt to the pan

Damn if that's the case ill be trying to get my money back and using it to restore some real low backs

| Yes, you are missing the bottom bracket. But, even with the Scat bracket, I had to cut mine in half and weld the bracket back up because the seats sit too high with the ones in their kit. |

Damn, I called this morning and spoke with the owner who told me that there was a misunderstanding and they he would send me the missing parts. He said there is a adapter that bolts to the pan through holes already in it and then the seat slides into that. Was it way to high? I really hope I didn't just spend more money on adapters just to have to fabricate them some more

Hi,
I saw you are having a little trouble with your recently acquired PROCAR by Scat seats. The slider assembly bolts to the base of the seats- this has downward tabs that have 3 notches for height adjustments. The adapters for your early type 1 welded floor rails are sold separately. Seems like Tom got you those already?
When you get the adapters the sit on the inside of your welded floor rails. The factory rails have holes already drilled through the sides and rear areas. You simply line up the adapter so the holes line up with the factory holes, run a through bolt with washers and nut. That adapter will not only strengthen your seat frame but will install with no modification. It is a stationary piece. The seat with slider attached mount to the fixed adapter- the 90 degree tabbed section bolts right up... Choose from the 3 available notches to dial in your seat height desired!

Well I am interested to see how this turns out. If I did not redo my seats (see my gallery) I would slam in a set of the Procar 90's. I like the headrest model myself and some day I might get some just for kicks. It would be for the comfort not necessarily for the safety and also they recline.
So keep this thread updated please I would like to know your progress.

So I had to call in and order the adapters and they worked quite well. As the other user said, they bolt right onto the stock factory rails and then the seat bolts to the top of the adapter. They look so good and are much more comfortable than stock. Also the height it completely fine and they recline way back and slide smoothly.
