|
|
i found out that the new O.E brand cylinder heads part number BA042 CH/WV that come throught with 39mm x 35mm valves i found out that the seats are for 40mm valves and when useing the 39mm valves that now come with the heads the seat now rides on the very outer edge of the 39mm valve this is a big no no.. on the heads i have the valves are only seating on half of the valve seat . these heads used to come with SS 40mm valves now they come with 39mm steel valves and 35mm SS valves i just orderd new SS 40mm valves to fix this . these heads are great heads for the money . why they did this i dont know. but beware they need 40mm valves to work right

Somebody in China probably found a cheaper deal on valves.... I would send them a whine e-mail saying they are not doing their selves an good by this sort of thing....

there $195.00 out the door each with the 39mm valves.. with the 40mm valves there at $220..each out the door there still a low cost head . there well made we have had real good luck with them . its still a good deal even if you have to buy the SS 40mm valves. spencerfvee

mark mark the heads above are 40mmx35mm valves.. not stock valve heads. why would any one want a set of stock valve heads when they can have a set of 40mm by 35mm heads allso the ports are bigger than stock on the heads above .. from mofocos web site 040 heads 35mm x 32mm valves $219.99 each ... 041 heads 39mm x 32mm valves $239.99 each ... 042 heads 40mm x 35 mm $299.99 each .. a set of mofoco 40mm by 35mm heads will cost you $600.00 and add $40.00 shipping cost on to that $600.00 that makes it $640.00 for a set of mofocos 40 mm by 35mm valve heads .. the heads above are $420.00 a set out the door do your math mark . yes i like mofoco heads but not every one has the money to pay for a set of mofoco heads . but if your building a low cost motor for the street these heads work great ...i am trying a set of them on my drag race motor allso mark i dont like valves that seat way over on the OD. i like a valves that are done the right way not half ass spencerfvee

then how about the scat prostreet witch come ported for about what you have there.. if I want something that is beter and cost more I just dont eat much for a week, and drink more water. the taste of higher priced better stuff go's away much faster than stuff that needs more help for a longer time and comes back up a few times. why buy junk when you can buy beter junk? kinda like rubber hooters, sure they look nice & feal nice, but in the end there....,ok you got me .you pay for what you get. I wonder whats for dinner. |

Hmmm....if they can't match up the seats to valves, I wonder how good the machine fit on everything is.....Seat to head press fit? Guide to head press fit? Deck surface, square, etc
No savings when that stuff falls out. BOOM
I'm not saying these heads are good or bad, it's just stuff like this scares me.
How about a new sticky that covers quality of parts based real use and testing, this could really help some people out, and save lots of wasted time and money avoiding bad parts. It would also help support those busness that sell the good stuff, and put a stranglehold on the carp peddlers.
Thoughts? Mods? |

mark yes you get what you pay for. like i said there nice street heads for guys that dont want to spend a lot of money. this post was to let people to know that the 39mm valves should be changed to a 40mm valves no more no less .this post is not about who makes a better set of heads ..i could care less about getting into a pissing contest over who makes a better set of heads spencerfvee

the castings are based on a long used mild port job from i forget which head porter. these are the same china castings that Brothers, Timms, and several others are using. I know Brothers was buying bare castings and setting them up themselves and they were $205ea with HiPO singles or $215 with duals.
i have a set of the Brothers heads on my 2021...ken.... _________________ ITMC

Standard valve guides are too small on the OD for those heads.
I've used 15 pairs of Brothers heads the last couple years.
Had a guy miss a gear, wring out an engine and dropped a valve last summer.
When we went to fix it and replace the guide the OEM guides I had on the shelf were too small.
Just for an FYI. _________________ Gary

Casting looks pot-metal looking.
I like Brazilians and CBs, or original 040 castings from way back. That is it. I do not bother w/ anything else. |

the springs work well . from talking to other people that run them . I all ways run dual springs . I can say one thing about the heads they work well in my dune buggy .I ran a 14:01 second run 1/4 mile last night at the drag strip. and all I did was a mild clean up. port job on the heads .not bad for a $195.00 each head spencerfvee....
