Heres what I have done so far...

Cut hole

flanged edge

welded the clip every 1/2"

ground down the welds

Now I plan on a skim coat of filler and lots of sanding. Does this sound correct...I have never done body work before and this was a fairly large undertaking for me! I just couldn't stomach paying someone $1200 to do it for me!

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

John

That is how I did one in my 67. The alignment in my 67 was different because of the windshield curve. My headliner fit a little tight in back. I think my section is about ½" closer in the front.
Did you put the little corner pieces in on the inside front corners? Your headliner has to go up past them so there has to be a little room there.
I was thinking of doing another one and I have seen where they flange the panel then use a new GLUE to stick repair panels on and was thinking of trying that way.
You will love the new view when you get done!
Twice I have had people stop me and thought I had forgot a rug on top of my car and was driving off. What fools.
