So I lowered my 67 2 outer splines (on accident. meant to do 1 but I liked the ridiclous camber so i left it.) But now I wanted to go back up to just 1 outer spline. I tried really hard to not let the inner torsion bar come out with the spring plate but one smack and the whole thing slid out and rotated. I had marked the plate to torsion bar end at roughly level to the car, so I know "sort of" where the inner goes but is there a way to know for sure what rotation to put the bar in to get it back to stock inner spline? _________________ '58 Euro Spec Beetle

There is not a "Stock" inner spline .. only a stock plate angle..
To achieve the proper speing plate angle requires a series of inner and outer spline movements.
With a combination of spline changes as little 50' of a degree
Chart represents degree/angle change of the plate with splines changes indicated.
A 67 with the equalizer overload spring should have a stock rear spring plate angle setting of around 20 degrees.

I just want to add to make sure the car is perfectly level when taking that angle measurement. Use a bubble level on the floor just inside each door. |

^ Yes while that's the preferred controlled environment method.. it's not really necessary.
It does not have to be level, but you must use a body/chassis fore/aft zero starting point of reference.
I place the rear up on jack stands at the torsion tubes and go to work..
I've always used the rocker panel (flat door opening surface above the running boards) as my zero ref per side..
Measure and make that ZERO for the side Im currently working on..
Measure where the spring plate angle is currently set.. per side and adjust accordingly..
Take and make notes to keep up with what I've moved..
Works perfect for me every time.

I have a digital level I can "zero" on the car and go from there. I use it for work a lot. So no problem there. I know I had the inner at +\- 0 before and I just want to leave it there and go +1 outer. I guess I'll just have to screw around with it until I get it. _________________ '58 Euro Spec Beetle
