As the subject says, my 67 pulls to the left when under any type of braking, any ideas on what's wrong? _________________ RHD 1967 Beetle Sedan (Phoebe)

Hopefully, it’s just a matter of adjusting your brakes.

First is the easiest, check tyre pressures all round, adjust the brakes, raise each wheel off the ground and have someone press the brake pedal, check each locks up.
After that it's time to dig deeper, focus on the right front, I suspect there's an issue there _________________ Aust. RHD 66 Type 1

if it pulls to left, left I clamping down harder than right side.
this can be caused by a collapsed brake hose (fairly common) - I usually change them in pairs to be on safe side
But Id start with adjusting brakes, bleed air from brake cylinder and flush line with fresh brake fluid by bleeding more volume than air (not a bad idea to refresh brake fluid every so often - I have seen it come out black before it looks clear on some cars) , if still an issue ,most likely brake lines or leaking brake wheel cylinder (or is it a caliper on a 67). Both are cheap. |

Perhaps it can work the other way, but in my case a collapsed brake line resulted in a temporarily locked drum that would eventually release not the other way around. As said. I would agree with checking your adjustment first.
Here’s a quick link if you’re not familiar with it. Takes only a jack and simple hand tools to accomplish.

If it pulls left your issue is most likely with the RH front brake. Pull the drum, look for issues... wet shoes, leaky/frozen wheel cylinder and of course the brake line could be internal blocked. Plan on treating the whole axle to some brake repair/maintenance. |

If it’s pulling to the left, it’s most likely that the left brake is working, while the right is not.
When I worked at an Aircooled shop, brake jobs were inspecting the hard lines, and replace everything else. Once you start replacing individual components, other non-replaced components are most likely not far behind from failing. Sure, you may be able to continue to use shoes, and drums, but if you’re having an issue with one wheel cylinder/hose, I’d replace all four. |

Could also be the right wheel cylinder has started to leak slightly enough to dampen the shoe so it grabs more. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

Yes, but original poster did not say whether this pulling started right after he "did something" to the VW, or if it was doing fine and then all of a sudden started happening. That's an important piece of information for us to help through a computer.
Yes - one must take a hands-on look-see. I'd say an under 30 minute diagnosis. _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each.
