Hello, I planed to convert my '65 912 coupé to a sunroof coupé and I need to know what goes inside the pillar between the rear windshield and the rear quater glass. Is it a piece of metal? What's the shape of this piece?
A picture could be really helpfull....
Thanks by advance LM Wink

The VALUE of your Porsche will go way down when you cut that hole as the model code will be wrong. Check the classifieds on here for an idea of what people are paying.

Thanks for the advice but the goal is not making a purist car because the car is not matching. By the way, if I could install a sunroof roof ( Very Happy )it would be easy to replace it by the original one in case of.... Well, Starbucket can give me lights about my question. Thanks again

I think depending on who made the car at that time (karmann or Porsche) the drain could be found in different places, my 67 Karmann 912 had the drain in the A pillar, which might make your job easier?

I second the fact that one should not cut a factory car, these days they are much too valuable and the marque is very revered by Porschephiles, so by cutting one you are killing history.
We have done roof cuts on Porsche rollovers long long ago, and installed new roof sections on current rollovers for insurance company repairs, but always put back on what came from the factory

That's a point of wiew and I undersand but I made it for myself. As I said above this car is non matching and have no history (I cannot kill it Wink), it's not a time capsule, she need a restoration and I planed to change the color so..... She's not the perfect candidate for a concours d'élégance or museum project.
But be sure I understand your message. Bye LM

Thanks for the picture, it helps because I have forgotten to ask for the location of the front drainholes, so it helps. It's a Zuffenhausen, as you said maybe it change something. Need to dig, I'll never thought about this! Shocked

Do you have the sunroof piece yet? If not ask the seller where it goes but I think it will have nipples for the drain hose to connect to so it should be clear where they go. Another thought is to contact Porsche and ask them.

Starbucket,
Apparently there's different drainholes locations between an early sunroof 912 and a late. the one I bought is a late one so I don't have the hole in the C pillar. Hence my question....
