Has anyone ever used the data logging capabilities of the distributor. I have a couple questions.?Does the distributor have to be connected to the laptop? How do you retrieve the information? And is it in an easy to understand format?
Thanks in advance |

How do you retrieve the information? You have to data log while driving the car. Then review the data later in the comfort of your garage.
And is it in an easy to understand format? No! I found it hard to decipher the information and make the appropriate adjustments.
Also My Magna Spark ll Digital would crap out at 5500RPM. I never figured it out. It was removed and I went back to a trusty 010, points condenser.....
Thanks in advance |

Over the years I have went from stock single factory carb, points and capacitor
to 009 with Pertronics no points , to duel carbs and Mallory Unite, with Jacobs ignition.
Granted love the performance I have now, but I rmembered how simple it was to trouble shoot a stock bug.
The reason most of us drive a bug is for it's simplicity. Going Digital may have some advantages, but with all crap cars have today I am appreciating less electronics more then every before.
We get a EMP from an unfrendly country, only stock bugs will be on the road.

I agree. Points and condenser I can fix. Electronics and I walk.

How about asking the vendor instead of anonymous people on the interwebz?

I’m having the same issue with my MagnaSpark II - engine runs good up to 5k and sputters to 6k... then smooths back out up to 8k. Almost feels like it’s hitting a rev limiter. I emailed Mark my MAP file and explained the situation. He tweeked the curve but the stumble is still there throughout the 5k range... but not all the time, maybe 75%. He stated that if the new MAP didn’t cure it then it was a carb tuning issue... anyways good info to know moving forward |

I will never forget Mark helping me after hours from his house to my garage in HI. He gave me his cell number and remote logged in to my laptop. Adjusted my timing map realtime and explained every function of the 2094 crank trigger. Hit send, started the engine, and then took it for a drive.. Never had to touch it since. I appreciated that greatly.
I still use an 010 on my other engine. Never have issues with either. _________________ 2276 IDA's 86C 11-1 DD !
