|

Hello everyone,
I'm getting ready to swap a Ecotec into a 1973 vw beetle pan. Can i use a stock Clutch and Pressure plate or do i need to go with a stage 1 or stage 2 clutch and pressure plate. Thanks in advance. |

I have a Kennedy stage 1 pressure plate with a stock type disc. With a fairly mild low boost 2165 I have some slippage over 5 psi.
You’ll make way more torque than me

| I have a ecotec in my car....it's a turd. but I would go with at least a stage 1& good disc. possiably stage 2. my 2332 would drive right through a stage 1& kushloc disc. the non turbo ecotec is around 130~150 hp they claim 170 at the flywheel...I doubt it. chassie dyno shows about 135 on most. they have small bore long stroke and no guts. a good tune will help as will a proper sized and built header .force feed it helps too. some were super charged some were turbo. mine is the na with 10.4 cr and a pure turd. ( as tuned by gm in the small "light" roadstrer ,solstice) Ive not built a header yet&had a tune, that should get me around 20~27 more.( tune is good for about 15 hp). also there are many different intakes for those engines. I dont know if any dyno test have been made to find the best. mine has what is thought to be the best for top end power....only gm could fuck up a 24 valve 10.4 cr over head cam engine this bad. |

| Thanks everyone - after doing some extensive digging i believe that it will work. Most say that they use it more as a "fuse" as it will slip before it destroys the transmission. I guess we shall see. Thanks again |
