Slowly getting this beetle roadworthy, but seems like I still got a ways to go.
Still doesn't run great which gets better when warm, hard start, timing mark is all over. Waiting on another throttle body to fix a vacuum leak at the shaft.
Adjusted valves. Engine is still noisy.
The noise is a bit concerning. Engine sounds like a diesel and I can hear some grinding. Removed belt and no change in noise.

Sounds like an exhaust leak. Maybe a miss, too.
But first. Check your valves, stone cold. Adjust to.006. That is always the starting point.
Check your oil. Fluid good? Smell like gas? If in doubt, change it.
Now, go find that exhaust leak! _________________ Jimbo
