I've searched all over and can't find anyone selling a new wiring harness for my 1982 FI Vanagon.

There was one great resource I found mentioned in one of the topics on TheSamba, from Kyle Automotive (he hand builds the new harness), but he has none available at the moment.

Does anyone have other suggestions as to where I might get a wiring harness for my van?

for a NEW harness Kyle Automotive is the only game in town.
iirc, he usually needs the old harness as a core to build off from as the ECU socket needs to be reused, it's not produced as a new part

if you can't part with your current harness because you are still limping along using it. you'll need to source a used harness to send to Kyle.

edit: or just a good used harness to replace your old one?

you might do well looking for a used one in better condition than yours and then rebuilding the original yourself. I was able to secure a very, very clean FI harness for my 85 via Samba classifieds and am eventually rebuilding the original. Even this used on makes a huge difference in running/driving/etc.

Ebay can be good too.

Thanks to the both of you (haven't figured out how to reply in individual responses yet). Didn't know the Samba classifieds existed (I'm new around here).

These are both great suggestions. Much appreciated.

if you use a used harness, you want to open up and inspect the wiring inside the loom, carefully use a hooked razor (avail at hardware store) to open the loom, and inspect for cracked insulation. the harness sets on the engine in a few spots and this overheats the insulation and it cracks..
add in some moisture and it can cause issues with the ECU sensor readings.
repair the compromised wire with new spliced wire, or sealing with a tape or liquid electrical tape of your choice.. Youtube is full of videos repairing wiring.
