What a beaut, huh?!. Something to keep me busy this winter. I have always wanted a sedan delivery and this mimics a '40 Ford .Crusty interior, crusty exterior, but seems mechanically solid. More cosmetic than mechanical issues.
A few surprises left by the PO's, PO. Had been stored indoors 8 yrs then left outdoors 2 more plus. All rubber fuel line-- front to back- and it had a hot wire from battery to front accessory beams that was zip tied directly to it full length. Rat nest in tunnel, huge hole in tunnel, although functional -the directional arm is installed backward on right side. Overall a fair deal on a decent car. Hope to be ready to cruise by April.

I always thought those hoods looked cool, but went up hill. I would take a slice out.
Hopefully you’ll be cruising in the spring time!

That is a VERY cool project. I think a set of Rossi headlights would really work for the ‘40 Ford look. It appears to have been very well built originally. I’m looking forward to updates as you pull it back together. Cool

Appears-- to be. Whoever decided to begin this conversion never got to finish. While fully drivable, the engine is left exposed in the cabin! A bit too hot , noisy and smelly.Need to fabricate a "shelf and lifting door" to separate area from air cleaner down.No interior, need to replace og seats. Cheaper to retrofit seats than fix these.

Is that the one that was in the classifieds here for a while?

If so, it looked like a fun tempting project, but I need another project like you-know-what.

The sky's the limit with that thing, first would be to separate the engine compartment from the cabin.

That is an awesome car! I always loved the ‘40 Ford hoods for the Beetle!

Mismatched front fenders, ugh! Hoping to swap one to match the other to avoid buying two. Just want a match, not fussy. Not sure on id after searching pics. Notable differences in signal hole size, curvature , spaces from bottom of horn grill to bottom lip. Any ideas as on years? Holes below horn grills are n

Been working on this beast, finally de-crusted and de-rusted, ready for real body work. Got a nice set up to block engine off but losing 4 upper vent straps in rear door due to lowering of engine box top.
Open to ideas, thinking I will need more air input via side vents or scoops near fenders. Late bay side vents molded in perhaps?

in the uk these were sold by wizard who also made the roadster. they are mostly seen with a solid rear door so I suspect the advice was to cut circular holes in the inner fender for air like the speedster used.

but a bay bus vent could look good fitted above the waistline and ducted down inside...

Gallery has a few pics of a bgw sd with late bay vents (user names is - Coughlin. Old post .My headache would be sourcing the chunks, not installing them Holes in well seems would put too much dirt/dust into engine bay.

Are you going to run full tins with the bottom sealed? If no, don't worry too much about extra air getting in - plenty will. If yes, holes in the inner fender wells as suggested (covered with a screen, of course), or NACA ducts low on the fenders in front of the wheel well, ducted to the engine compartment.

NACA! Now we are getting into technical aeronautics. I may just fab some scoop thingies out of fiberglass, but it would be nice to have something period looking, somehow. Or making it looking like it had to be there.

Off comes this wondrous hand made oak dash cover.A PO had a fun time hacking the dash to fit a big screen TV or maybe a boom box? I've welded and putted it all back. Now the problem is that the fuel guage glass and cover was held on by the wood cover and a funky bent clip.

So do I need just an outside trim square to bend over it, or what piece?

Going through every system for my own sanity and safety. This is how PO left steering linkage. Since the tank has bad been replaced brand new, this should have been noticed. I've been working diligently on this beast, getting close to actual fish work on body and interior soon. So far all new brakes, metal line in tunnel, wiring fixes, built engine compartment, window regulator, clear intake preheat vlockage, clean/ paint/ check engine, new clutch, etc, etc.
I'm even gonna buy some castle nuts and proper bolts for this steering link.
