Hey all!

Pretty new here, officially, and still a novice vanagon owner… need help trying to figure out what is leaking here. What throws me off is that I’ll find spots on my driveway randomly, after days that I haven’t driven my van. I’m also very new to all this, and was hoping someone could help me out…

For info sake, it’s a 1984 with an unknown Subj engine conversion. Thanks to anyone who takes time on this one.

Those are pictures of a leaking power steering rack. That menagerie of zip ties are sus.
It could be the o-rings at that hydraulic connection, it could be the rack is failing. You need to degrease the unit and pinpoint where it is coming from.
The engine has nothing to do with this leak

Go to an auto parts store and buy a can of Brakekleen, then wearing eye protection, squirt/rinse/wash down that entire area until its clean.

It's probably leaking from metal line with the drip that Syncrodoka pointed out. But once clean, you can go for a drive and then confirm the leak location.

Once confirmed, you can either attempt to open the line and access if the o ring looks damaged (Ace hardware has many o-rings) and replace it.
