|
|
I'm planning on making and putting in a 2-3" body lift on the full-bodied baja I'm building, but realised I am going to run into a few problems in doing so.
With the body lift installed, the engine tin-ware will be sittting a good distance from the seal that runs around the engine bay, which in turn will let the hot air from the tranny/exauhst into the engine compartment
Does anyone have any ideas on how I could go about plugging up that gap?
Has anyone else installed or seen a body lift on a stock sedan?
Also, anyone who off-roads a full bodied sedan how does it cope offroad?
Thanks |

I haven't put an engine seal in a beetle in a looonng time but don't (at least some of them) put the rubber in a downward position? Or at least you can force it that way. If so maybe get some rubber as an extention and literally bolt or rivet it to the existing seals? Or maybe even welding some tabs etc.. around the perimiter so you can just bolt some 3" flat rubber around the hole? Just some thoughts don't know if either will do the trick though _________________ Markus |

I'd try to get a hold of Andy Felix, who sells the 'Up Yer Bug' body lift kits; if anyone knows how to make it work, he ought to be the 'go to' guy. _________________ Organized people are just too lazy to look for stuff

My buddy has a body lift on his class 11 car. What he did was raise the motor and trans 3 inches as well, it came out really nice. I will see if I can get some pictures of his car. Basically what he did was use 2 solid mounts in the rear, welded them together, and custom made his front mount. Hope this helps, later Mitch. _________________ www.lowlifeaz.com

try raising the cooling tin, use thin 16 gauge shape like chanel iron and rivit on stock tin the problem area is the front (by the trans) piece as it has an arch as well. can be done but you trash your hands changing plugs or getting to the intake bolts in dual carbs, perhaps some one makes a comercial wheather strip or seal that could be used. |
