We could probably start a spiro haters support group for those of us with fat, stiff fingers, and bad eyesight.

I did a 350 last week with double spirolocks on the old pistons and the new Evil or Very Mad
I am going to put a charge on the bill for the time and suffering to remove and replace 32 of these evil inventions.

The new forged 94mm C height pistons are here!!

431 grams with the pin
26.8mm compression height
Nice thin 1.2, 1.2, 3.0 rings included
4032 Alloy
Coated tops

I did a mock up a while back with these. I used a new STD deck CB aluminum case, CB 86mm crank, STD AA 94mm cylinders, and CB 5.7 H-beam rods, and everything went together perfectly, and it had a near perfect deck height.

These will be the new easy way to build a stock width, long rod 2387cc. I have 3 sets left, and 3 more on the way, then Trevor's first batch will be about gone. He said he is planning another batch as well.

Here are some quick pics of the adorable little 85.5 forged Icon's. These are going to be the hot ticket for the 1600cc Baja classes.

They have 1.5, 1.5, and 4.0 rings.

Damn good price, especially compared the CSP version of a similar piston.

CSP version is lighter but also $1000

you are probably not going to like this answer.... but i would give my buddy Kevin Studaker a call at total seal. i know for a fact that have options for all current bores in a Steel top ring. and yes , you dont have to buy a kit , you can buy 4 individual top rings in steel

How long on a mill does it take to carve out one of these?

Laughing I wish it were that simple.

since we own our own forging presses it starts off with cutting the bars to length for the right sized puck. they get heated to the pliable state and then stuck in the forging presses.... puck gets squeezed into shape and comes out the the press, and excess flashing is cut off .
from there it goes to its first machining process , skirt ream , where it gets the locating ring machined into the bottom of the forging so it can be held firmly off of one firm datum. then it gets rough pinbored, after that than it gets all its drills , oil drainbacks, pin oiler intersects etc.
from there it finally goes to the lathe and gets its rough shape and rings grooves. after that the underside gets milled to the correct thickness and shape. (there are going to be a lot of after thats here) side mills get put in after the internal milling, after that the pin bore gets its final bore and finish to within .0001" , annular oilers, broach and lockring grooves (as well as the digout ) all get done on about 3 machines.
after this it goes to skirt mill , to give the skirt base its final shape (slipper tip , etc) from there it then goes to the annodizing department, where the crown and top ring groove is given a military grade type 3 annodizing. after that it goes to the skirt finish machine , which puts the carefully selected barrel shape and ellipse to the skirt that works optimally on boxer style engines. from there is gets the skirt coating (M42) that you see on the skirts and finally to the laser etching machine to put all the markings on the pistons.

after all of that each piston is weighed to one another and boxed.

since we run many different types of pistons , whether it is a standard cast , hyper-eutectic cast , 4032 or 2618 forgings, it takes a while to run through the plant. Silvo-lite, KB, and ICONS are all run through the same factory. start to finish, i would say there is roughly 45 minutes of highly specialed work that goes into each piston.

I hope that answers your question Laughing
