Thanks for the kind words. The car is a nice 10 footer, any closer and you can see the "flaws" in the 2010 House of Color "Wild Cherry" job.

While not perfect it's nice enough for me.

My 68 is the same way. It always looks amazing in pictures but it's a 56 year old factory paint job so there's lots of flaws.

My 1964 Karmann Ghia Cabriolet at Liberty State Park, New Jersey Oct. 1991. Decades-long VW enthusiast and VW book author Bob Cropsey from NJ organized a VW meet "Garden State Classic" held at the large field in this park. It's located on the west side of the Hudson River, directly across from lower Manhattan. After participating in the show with my Ghia, a friend offered to take a photo of the car and me. The World Trade Center (both towers were attacked and fell 10 years later) made an exciting backdrop. I'm wearing my German Lederhosen. I fitted trim rings to the Porsche 914 rims, and a dual quiet-pack muffler which were on the car for a few more years.

Wow! Wish that was my car.

Lovely colour combo, earth colours. Perfect ride height. Pedrini wheels?

Thanks, kiwi. Color is the original L87 Pearl White. Vinyl top is a VW dealer NOS from a '67 with the "parallelogram" shaped rear window instead of the "rectangular" of the original. The original top was black vinyl, its rear window not only torn but partially opaque from UV exposure. It had pulled away from its rear wood bow and had to be replaced. The interior is the original black vinyl color, though with different seats now.

Wheels are stock steel sport wheels from a Porsche 914, 5.5" wide. 185/65 tires all around.

This year- next month, actually- I've owned the Ghia 41 years, though it was professionally painted in early 1988.

I never saw your car (or the photo) before I decided on the colour scheme and wheels for mine. I promise.

Great photo Rome! I was at that show. I was only a VW owner for 2 years at that point but my Dad and I made the ride up minus VW. My buddy Danny and his Aqua colored bay window single cab was there too. Great show and a great spot. Wish it would have been more than a 1 year thing.

Beautiful car. Such a cool and special picture. Sad as well but historical memories none the less.

Two is more fun than one.
Is there a typo in your post though! I suspect the black Ghia is a 1968, not 1958?
