Hello
just saw the post and decided to add to the thread. moved here from Cocoa Florida about a year ago, now living in Cajah's Mtn. between Granite Falls and Lenoir. Some of you may have seen me driving around in my red single cab or blue and white 21 . If you guys decide to try and get together count me in. |
Hell my mechanic lives in Cajahs Mtn. and I'm there all the time but I've yet to see you or your rides. I live on the Connelly rd. about a 1/2 mile past the loop. _________________ 63SunNotch...."Don't qoute me on it but I am pretty good when it comes to tits.

Hey Guys, the wife and I moved from Vero Beach, Fl. to SC in 2002, here to Hickory a year ago. Planning on being at the transporter show. Maybe we can join in the convoy as ya'll come down 321? Moth did you get stopped in the road buy a guy in a yellow car in Hickory, if so, that was I. _________________ "A foolish faith in authority is the worst enemy of truth" Albert Einstein - 1901

If you don't mind the 3-hour drive from where you are, Aubrey Watson's in Orangeburg, South Carolina, has lots and lots of air-cooled Volkswagens.

be better for everyone to meet up in the newton/conover area somewhere and go down hwy16. trust me i lived in conover and worked in charlotte the first year and a half here. i tried all routes. all are about teh same time wise but the drive down 16 is easier. i try and avoid gastonia like the plague, but i had to go that route today going to fort mill. the roads in that area are horrible and only getting worse.
if you wantted you could avoid all the big roads and cut up through mooresville and what not but just don't let it be a race weekend...ken.... _________________ ITMC

Yeah that's him but I don't mention his name since he usually has more work than he can handle. But for anyone here I'd give him up.
It wasn't me Tom it was some other unsuspecting soul.
Well I won't make the transporter show but I was thinking about North/South. The bugs on Volkswagen Hill and I'm going by there in the morning to see how things are going. _________________ 63SunNotch...."Don't qoute me on it but I am pretty good when it comes to tits.

Thanks BugsnPugs, I have family down in the Low Country so I'll stop there in the future.
Alrighty then BusGuy, keep your eyes peeled for a blue and white bus, the two tone divide slants from high in the back to low at the front, Westfalia I think. He said he also has a 68 at home. That's all the time we had to talk. _________________ "A foolish faith in authority is the worst enemy of truth" Albert Einstein - 1901

hey y'all - I am finally getting all settled in up here, learning my way around, etc...and been pleasantly surprised to see a few ACVWs running around.
Anyway, if folks still want to meet up one evening for some beverages/food/conversation, I'd love to get together sometime. _________________ <---Air Cooled Search & Rescue Team - STICKERS & T-shirts for sale!

I think I just found this guy this morning, (posted a few pics in the rusty VWs thread in readers rides) driving around in that area - close to 321, off a little side road...pretty cool place, and he's really cool - we talked for a bit...I want to go back on the winter when you can see everything and take more pics...
anyway, I'm down for a meeting any evening after 6:30 or so... _________________ <---Air Cooled Search & Rescue Team - STICKERS & T-shirts for sale!

Does anyone here own the orange bug (apparently broken down) on the side of I-40 this afternoon? My work has finally slowed down and can get together any time my schedule permits. The schedule changes every week though. _________________ "A foolish faith in authority is the worst enemy of truth" Albert Einstein - 1901

Yeah Keiths really a good guy. The blue(some call it green) bug up by the camper and his 65 and 63 is mine. Apparently I'm storing it there so he'll have something to cruise around in if he feels like it.
Hell if I could save some money I'd be cruisin it around. hahaha
EDIT: After looking at the pics you posted it looks like you found Roberts place in Happy Valley, up behind the church. I personally don't deal with him but alot of people around these parts does. _________________ 63SunNotch...."Don't qoute me on it but I am pretty good when it comes to tits.

huh, you're right, so that means there's yet another shop & Beetle Yard I have to be on the lookout for.
I didn't see the Beetle on 40, but I usually take back roads around...I've driven the crew cab to work a few times, but usually use the silver diesel rabbit to get around...I see ACVWs from time to time...
but I'm pretty much free most evenings as long as we can plan a few days ahead... _________________ <---Air Cooled Search & Rescue Team - STICKERS & T-shirts for sale!

I am in Sherrills ford I am working on my 63 but I am also working on a 280zx too.It would be nice to get a group of people together from time to time. The old Hickory tap room is good and reasonably priced damn good bier too especially the Black Raven it is really close to an arrogant bastard ale. _________________ I love the smell of nitro in the morning.
