My uncle's phone number was one off from a local Pizza parlour. Several times he asked them to change their number but they refused. So he started taking delivery orders. |

Our work phone number used to be close to both Burger King and a hotel. We would get calls from people wanting to reserve a hotel room. Burger King closed and the hotel changed...no more calls!
At home, we get blank calls all the time. You answer and no one is ever there. Talk about annoying! We also get calls that tell us that they have a very important message and that we should call some number. Yeah, like I'm going to do that. _________________ VW-less right now...looking

My phone number is very close to the small local pharmacy in town, so I get pretty frequent wrong numbers. Mostly it's old people so I don't fuck with them... _________________ ITMC - Backyard chapter

All my numbers are on the do not call list, but a few of these still get through.
When I get these calls I immediatly interrupt and try to start selling them Amway Products. That usually works pretty well to get them to go away.
Or sometimes I just ask them what they are wearing, then tell them I'm naked and what I'm doing to myself.
And it's OK if you get perverted with them. They called you and it is not illegal for you as the receiver to be offensive. It is only illegal if you made the call.
Be persistent and you'll have some fun with them.
If you are sending bills for your time, make sure you follow them up with late notices and late fees. Then when the amount gets high enough, turn them over to a collection agency. Just tell the collection agency it's unpaid invoices for your time.
I get a lot of spam faxes on my fax line. Everytime we get one of these, we put it on the pile. Once in a while, someone sends in a spam fax with their 800 fax number on it. Thats when we put the whole pile in the fax machine and fax it back. Record was 124 pages before we got distracted and the pile ran out.
A fax snake works pretty well too. Draw the head of a snake on a piece of paper followed by the body on the next couple of pages. Feed it through until you can tape the body to itself and it will just run for hours and hours faxing the snake to the receiver. This is more fun if your snake is fat and totally black.
I have been warned never to call to have your number removed from the calling list. When you do this, your number goes on a different list that is resold to other venders. _________________ Mother Nature is a Mean Evil Bitch! |

Along those lines, if you can fax them totally black pages endlessly, they'll run out of ink/toner in a hurry. _________________ 1974 Thing -- under the knife

Not spam, but my cell phone number is apparently the same number as a collection agency, except theirs has a 1-800 prefix. My area code is 803.
I get an unbelieveable amount of calls from people wanting to know how they can pay me so they won't go to jail. Some of them are calling about debts from 3-7 years ago. Mostly from bounced checks.

When I was growing up, the 1.800 version of our phone number was some low-budget, fly-by-night abortion clinic My parents had had our number for 20+ years and politely asked the clinic to get their number changed, because we were getting like 20 calls a week. They got all nasty and refused, so we just started scheduling abortions for people. I bet there was some confusion when 75 people all showed up at the same time. The calls stopped shortly thereafter. _________________ Evan H.

Learn this phrase:
"please permanently remove me for your list and do not call this number again"
That is the crystal clear way to do it.
Also, if you report a telemarketer to DNC, you get placed on a "Reporter List" and the rest will stop calling shortly. The law only works if you file a complaint list, then they take you seriously. _________________ Feel My Pain l Sage Ad World |

Company I used to work for had an 888 Number. We were supposed to forward our calls to that number when we would close. A few times, I goofed and accidently dialed 800 instead of 888. The 800 number was some phone-sex line's intro number or some shit like that. After a few customer complaints, the company bought the 800 number version as well. Seems, I was not the only person who did that.
I found out about it when a customer complained to the local office about being connected to an inapropriate number when she tried calling us. _________________ A good friend will come and bail you out of jail...but, a true friend will be sitting next to you saying, "Wow...that was fun!"

These assholes ask for me , not so much on my cell , but on the home phone .
What I do is tell them that Im dead , I identify that im the deceased's bother in law , and I am handling his affairs and that the phone will be disconnected within the next 48 hours .
So there is no point that his be on your mailing list any longer .
They remove you off the mailing list and never hear from them again .

Actually, that can backfire on you, as companies sell and trade lists of addresses and telephone numbers. I read a story of someone who wrote "DECEASED" on junkmail and ended up going round and round with the Social Security Administration for fraudulent usage of his SSN as he was listed as deceased. You're opening a very large can of worms here. _________________ West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette, 319 U.S. 624 (1943) |
