I have logged a few hours, not minutes, of time on the phone with Dan. I provided a tall order on my wants/needs for my engine build. He provided input on the right size for my '74 Beetle and what components to complement my goals. In doing so, here is the laundry list of what he provided:
Beehive spring kit
Web 86A cam
Web lifters
His own pushrods
1.3 ratio rocker assemblies
NOS MSD 6A analog ignition module
Italian Weber 44IDF carbs, rebuilt
Everything came in and was as advertised. I'm very particular when inspecting products I receive. Dan provided detailed explanations on questions I had and continues to offer product support after the sale. This is an initial feedback report as I haven't installed/used the components, yet. However, the quality of products, customer support, and long/detailed conversations on providing answers I need to assure a high quality engine have been outstanding.
In short, I highly recommend consulting Dan for any of your engine needs. |

After putting a little over 2000 miles on my new engine I can say I'm thrilled with Dan's Beehives Springs, Pushrods, 1.5 Rockers, and camshaft selection help (Web 252)
Starting out my engine build, I was essentially clueless in a few regards. Dan spent a lot of time on the phone with me which was priceless. He really took care to fully and thoroughly answer literally any question I threw at him, and some of which were very basic, possibly ridiculous He offered up knowledge I wouldn't have even known to ask for. He was instrumental in figuring out my first air cooled hot rodding experience.
As far as the #252 grind he developed with Web Cam. I have a 1967 Bug and built a 2180 using the parts above. The car pulls strong past 7k! I can climb a hill slowly @ 1500 rpms or step on it in 2nd and take off like rocket. The power band is very broad and satisfying. It's nice and quiet with no discernable valve noise other than for a minute while it's warming up. The idle is smoother my all original stock 1500SP in tip top shape was. I could idle this at 550 if I wanted, but I keep it higher where I like it. Overall, I couldn't be happier with my choice. _________________ 1967 Bug ( the daily rod )

Purchased some 1.5 rockers from Dan. Awesome customer service, and a pleasure to do business with. Had an after sale issue that I was willing to accept, but Dan sent extra parts fast and free. Dan knows stuff, and when I need stuff that he knows about, I hope that he’s still in the game. |

I purchased from Dan at a few occasions, beehives and pushrods. I obtained way more than just parts as Dan is a very knowledgeable, an outside the box thinker, patient and passionate he will make sure you do it right the first time with very comprehensive details.
Good job Dan and thank you for everything.

Bought a set of Berg Specials (Webber 42DCNF) from Dan last week. Absolutely the nicest set of carbs I've purchased from anyone. 100% as advertised and very fair price. Great guy to deal with and very knowledgeable. _________________ Ambassador of Logistics Wide 5 Vintage Volkswagen Club International |

Just bought a set of Pauter ratio rockers from Dan.
He is quick to respond to inquiries and took the time to make sure I wasn't doing something stupid, when he could have more easily just sold me some parts.
He went to great care to explain the additional upgrading my valvetrain would need in order to run these rockers, risks I was taking, and was honest with me about what upgrade parts he could provide vs what I already had on hand (told me I was better off with the valve springs I already had, rather than try to sell me what he has that would fit the rockers!), and shipped the parts as soon as he got my money order - the entire turnaround from my sending the money order cross-country via USPS priority mail to having my parts in hand was four days!
If it turns out I can't use the pushrods I already have in my parts collection I'll be reaching back out to Dan for a new set. Great guy to deal with!
Thanks Dan!

I feel a need to clarify something in Rob's feedback. The Pauter rockers he bought from me are the old 1.6 ratio ford ball socket type, they will not work with my Beehive kit. This is the reason I told him to use the single HD springs he has, they were a better brand than the HD single springs I had laying around, something I normally do not stock .
I would never recommend a standard street dual or single spring over my beehives except in a situation like this. Rob, thank you for the positive feedback.

Sorry for the LLonngg delay it giving feedback! Dan made me a custom set of tapered aluminum pushrods for me using T4 oem push rods. He made them exactly as I requested and in good time. They have performed flawlessly in my 2276 motor that has CB650 valve springs and 1.5 rockers and .577" lift. Motor has been ran up to 7500 RPM numerous times and they are quiet. I can highly recommend him for you vw motor performance items. He is very knowledgeable and always willing to share his knowledge and experience. He is a valued asset to the air cooled vw community! Thank you Dan!

Just had a great interaction with Dan. I bought a set of pushrods from him and am excited to put them to work. He was very responsive, and knows his craft well. Payment sent on Jan 2, parts were in my mailbox in Utah on the 4th. Awesome! Hoping I can put his parts to use in another engine or two in the future. Thanks Dan! |

Just received a WebCam from Dan. These are hard to find and Dan saved the day. I recently met Dan at the Florida Bug Jam and had a great conversation with him. Stand up guy. |

I purchased the Beehives Done Right from Dan. Although I haven't installed them yet, I really appreciated his expertise and answering all my questions about them. He recommended a Web-Cam instead of the Engle 110 I was planning to use, and he explained the rationale in great technical detail. Even better, I was able to pick the Beehives up from him in person and got to spend a couple hours getting an education on crankshafts, cams, and more. Dan's a great guy, an incredible source of knowledge, and a pleasure to do business with. I will be purchasing the Pushrods Done Right from him once I measure them. |

I've been running Dan's beehives for 10k miles or so. Heavy off-road usage with a Web 218 with 1.25 stock style rockers. I have done about 6 drag race nights with them also, as well as commuting. They are super easy to set up and clear 911 adjuster feet with no lash caps, but adding lash caps makes them work great with the slipper foot rockers I'm using now, which will also use the Pushrods Done Right I sourced from him. Nice super heavy duty pushrods for sure!
I would think after beating them for this long and over-revving the engine enough to throw pushrods and blow the rocker set apart, if the beehive retainers were going to let go they would have!
Solid dude. Good for the industry. A+ _________________ 1974 Chenowth 2RL #1244 Street Legal

Dan has been awesome to work with. I originally contacted him about a new set of pushrods because one in my current set failed. Instead of being the typical seller and just send me a new set, he advised me to wait a minute and investigate to find the real problem. He guided me through some trouble shooting tests and we figured out that I actually had a lifter failure (worn face) that introduced a ton of lash which resulted in pounding the pushrod which caused the failure of that part. I am so appreciative of Dan taking time out to help me with this. Since then, Dan has spent a good amount of time on multiple phone calls with me, to help me determine the next steps in selecting and replacing the cam and lifters, along with guidance on a new set of heads and his beehive springs. Everything is still in the works on my end (not much VW time between family and work) but Dan has always been there for my questions and to help me out. He is a stand up guy, very knowledgable and I would recommend him to anyone who is looking to purchase his products or needing help with valve train or other VW performance topics. Thanks a bunch, Dan! |
