I wonder what the part number for that bracket is on the pipe as it is definitively not the same I got from VW in Finland.

When I Built my AHL TDi syncro I zink dipped the suspension and subframe components. a few pictures of that proses with the parys first sandblasted and then welded where problems arose and then dipoed in melted zink. Well I made two sets back then and today I started to put togather the other set for my Restoration project (The TDi was more of a restomod) where this pipe O have been asking for is also going.

This was the slightly faulty subframe as there had obviously been some shit in the pipes wich boiled out so I have to fix that small misshap, thats the stains on the subframe. The rest of the component are luckily perfect.

p.s. I still am interested in more info and pictures from that charge air cooler pipe.

Cool project! How did the Hot Dipping of the rear control arms work out? I’ve been thinking of getting this done. How did you protect the threads while you did this? Or did you re-tap them afterwards? Any issues with extra material on the mating surface to the rear wheel bearing housing?

Thanks.

I did not protect the tread in any way but opened them afterwards with taps.
No problems with the extra material, but obviously bearing surrace component where not hot dipped. Busching surfases is quickly rounded of with the sandpaper flap and good was l, rubber givs away. in the front I took it of a bit more as the upper control arms had metal frame buschings. Zink is slippery so it alows for slightly tighter fit so some can be left on the surface.

The Bearing housings them self where electro sink plated and then painted. The same threatment was given to the fron upright, as it was a bearing surface. The bearing surface it self was not painted but left on raw electrosink plating and that was just fine. If one would want to zink dip them one would have to re-mill them and even then it might be questionable do you hit the old hole spot on.

The company that did the zink dipping said one could also get the sing of the outer threads with heating them with a torch, I did not do this but I gues it could work too. I used the Tap as mentioned.

I ask it here also even that I know not many where sent to the US but there is also non Amis her so they might know. And the question is did the Oetinger intercooler and intercooler piping come from the factory in different shades of blue as mine are? Just would like to pain them as the once was.

I'd love to hear more about these Oettinger JX kits. Were they accompanied with instructions for adjusting the pump for more fuel under boost?

So is that color the same or different on that picture??
The rubber hose should be black in every case as the thing with coloful hoses came a bit later than this Oetingerset.
And to the question about the kit yes they did come with isnstructions for the pump and dump.
I actually have the whole manual it can be ordered still today for som 20€ from them directly that is what I did. Sadly the pictures are black and white old photocopy style so they do not help me.

That blue hose is an aftermarket silicone version, which is superior to rubber, but not original.

Yes it is, but is the metal pipe and IC the same color or not is the question I can't determine from the picture as the lighting is slightly different on both parts. What do you think?

It seems like the lower grils that all the supliers sell for the T3 come orginally from Spain and are of substandard quality. The problem is the injection ports where the plastik is injected in manufacturing are not trimmed nely but rater twisted off. This results in a variyng degree of fault ranging from best case just a white dot to the averag pothole to worst case like in the photo below.
I called several companys in Europe and the all selled the same shit this one came from Serial Kombi.
This aplies only to he lower grill. Theupper grill wich was OEM VW was of superb quality.

I was fixing drive shafts today and got a pair with the orginal yellow outer rubbers recinditioned today. For thohese that do not kbow the yellow or after years of use rather brown colored dust cocer are what the factory orginally put on the front outer drive shafts and the are superior in quality to all later versions. As a testament to that this rubbers has been on one f my cers for atleast 200tkm (might be from new when they would be 350tkm) and no signs of degradation or cracks part from the color change from yellow to rather brown. So if yo se these on your car respect them and do spare them in most case they will out live anything you will put there that s sold today.. So those are definitively going on this museum piece. In general now days the drive shaft rubbers are even wors than they where still a 15 years back as the new enviromental norms have pulled back on the quality.
