| Back on topic, does the cabin air flow through dramatically better with vented rear side windows added ? My 87 van obviously didn't come with them. |

The Black Forest engineers must have thought so. Adding this feature without an improvement to airflow would not make sense. They also blocked the front door vents, and eliminated the sliding opening feature. By now the original foam insert to keep dust and critters out of the rear side window vents has long since deteriorated. The good news is that it can be replaced with a modern equivalent filter medium from the outside without disassembly. _________________ “Most everyone’s mad here. The problem I have with putting things in locations that are generally speaking "hidden" is remembering that you did that in the first place.
For instance, I was doing something that required access to the battery compartment so I swiveled my passenger seat around. I had my wrench roll on the floor, and I noticed that on the Stow and Go seat, at the front, there is a small ledge where if one was sitting in the seat it would be just behind your knees. I wrapped up my wrench roll and set it in that little grotto, it fit perfectly, and I was thrilled to find a good spot. Well, I didn't need those wrenches for a while, and it slipped my mind. I hunted through the entire bus, and garage, and other bus and even another bus, and all around the house where I'd done anything since last I had done any wrenching, but did not find the wrenches. I then proceeded to go back to where I purchased them, and bought yet another set of wrenches in a decent canvas roll. I don't often buy inexpensive tools, so it was a considerable investment, again.
Last week, when I needed to disconnect my battery while dropping my fuse panel, I spotted my first set, and thought, hey!!! That WAS a great place to put those.... Too great!
Anyway, at least now I have two complete sets of wrenches, and two complete sets of ratchets, and, since I have two Westy's, I have to just laugh and say to myself, now I don't have to remember to grab the wrenches when taking the less often used one on trips.

^^^ I've done the same thing and wondered if adding a visible ribbon would remind me of my clever idea often enough that I could eventually remove the ribbon and still remember what I hid when I need it.

| Hi guys, I'm installing some sound deadening in my 85 Vanagon and I just realized there's an air vent on the door however there doesn't seem to be any port coming from the front dashboard to feed air into the door? Is that sliding vent useless? There seems to be a hole in the door that's supposed to pass the air into the bulkhead behind the cabinetry but again where does that airflow come from? Is this an unknown secret? (cue the spooky music) |
