Over the years I've brazed three tanks. Two type ones and one type two and if needed I will do it again. I just saw a repair that made over 25 years ago while replacing tie rod ends a few months back. Still holding knock on wood. A hundred and eighty dollars for a new tank certainly is affordable but is it crap like a lot of after market products. Just because wolfsburg west sells it doesn't always mean its quality. |
The WW tank is comparable in quality to my original tank. My original tank had much more "flex" than the WW tank as well, this could be due to age but it's something I noticed. _________________ "A rolling bus gathers no rust." |

I put a WW tank in over a year ago and it fit and looks perfect, the quality and fit/finish was excellent. You'd have to be a perfectionist Nazi to consider using an original tank.
As for WW in general, their quality is above average, pricing is competitive, the website works terrific as far as stock and detail, and the orders go out quickly with e-mail notifications when shipped.
Other vendors- missing parts, backorders, free shipping (but it takes a month), unkept promises, parts that don't fit, etc. You don't realize how good a supplier is until you deal with some bad ones. _________________ '66 Deluxe Bus

Go Vader on those old tanks and if it doesn't work then get a used one...or new...
For fun... |

It's still dumb to drill a hole in a gas cap where the vapor goes directly out. If enough gasoline vapor accumalates out of the fuel tank and reaches a source of ignition such as a pilot light, so long. It is the gasoline vapor that is dangerous. That is why they developed cannisters in a sealed system where the vapor condenses back to gasoline. Spend a few bucks and buy a good cap. |

That's fine. WHERE do you buy a good cap? I've had the problem of the tank pressuring up, leaking, and have tried several caps. I give!!! |
Hello, i have the same problem after filling up. The tank pressurizes up, and leaks between cap and filler neck. I thas the original cap. I tried also an aftermarked vented cap, without success. Any ideas? Thanks |

After the 3rd iteration of dragging a tank out of my parts stash, cleaning it all up, trying to de-rust the inside and then finding pinholes, I said 'fuck it' and bought one of the WW tanks.
