Years ago a guy at work use to bring in die cast cars for me to open up the wheel wells for adaption to slot car bases. _________________ Prosit!

Christmas time & slot cars go together for me. Ever since I was a little kid, I 've always wanted a fully scenic slot-car & train set layout. Now, years later I've realized this. The Porsche 550 is a model made by MEV with T-jet chassis. The 904 is Aurora and two 911s by Bauer. More images in my gallery. Happy New Year. |
There is a local company that builds mega dollar custom slot car tracks. very impressive work.

-Toolbox. Thanks for that link. Very cool. That's a gig I think would be very rewarding. Slot cars have come a long way since I was kid in the '70's.
My set up is in HO (1/76-1/64 scale). The 1/32 scale offers a lot more detail in the models and you can race digitally with decoders allowing the racers to change lanes, run in the same lane, run ghost cars, run out of gas ...pit stops.
Cool stuff. |

Revell did a nice job on those EMPI Imp buggies.
My electric slot cars were limited to the smaller HO stuff. Revell was one of the bigger players in 1/32, but the main focus of their business was on plastic assembly kits, and lucky for them they didn't go all in on slot cars, because companies such as Strombecker went belly up when the slot car craze fizzled in the late '60s. To this day there is lots of old warehouse stock that was never used.
Thanks for reviving this thread. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

Okay, boys and girls, get out your wallets!
The huge (15'x25' or so) recreation of the Targa Florio track, part of the now-closed Murphy Auto Museum in Oxnard, CA, is for sale on Facebook marketplace!:
Here is a pano shot taking it all in:
This is an actual active slot car track, not just a model.
In addition to the twists and turns, there is about a 3ft elevation change. The signage, scoreboard, people, tools in the pit, cars, etc are beyond description. Those hundreds of spectators are individual models, not a painted graphic, for example.
I post this here because of the many VW and Porsche cars that are part of this spectacular track. The details must have taken many years, and are incredible. Just a couple of closeups:
Three of my favorite cars right there!
The track looks to break down into maybe 8 foot squares for transport.
If not for lack of a winning lottery ticket, this would be mine! lol!
If allowed due to the unique nature, here is a link to their ad:
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/11909004...7f898d092d
I have no financial interest in this sale, just in awe at the track, and hoping it goes to a good (and local!) home. _________________ Current Fleet:

I've seen this before. It is so amazing. If we all pitch in together just a few bucks each, we can buy it and we can keep it at my house. _________________ Prosit!

Wow, I'm glad the pictures are no longer available.
Seriously, a lot of very cool stuff here. I had a Tyco setup when I was a kid, but nothing like these. _________________ “If you care for a thing long enough, it takes on a life of its own, doesn't it? This one sold last year on Bring a Trailer for $205,000. The ultimate Man Cave accessory.
Bus and bug semi hidden by trees.
That's a lot of 917's.
And when you are done playing, just close the top and roll it out of the way.

Hi,
I am modelling 1:32 resin slot kits late at night after working on my VW's.
The main theme is based on pre war cars but I also made a Formula Vee Formcar a few years ago.
It is a very limited edition of 40 units to be assembled.
It is including a chassis with the classic Volkswagen link beam front end.
Many photoetch small parts to enhance it.
The chassis is made for a slimcan motor.
The kit is based on a body, a chassis, front beam, driver, wheels inserts, and a photoetch sheet with many details.
Here are some pictures of 2 kits I made a few years ago.
If you want one, don't hesitate to contact me, I still have a few available, now with a 3D printed chassis and front beam.
