that vin puts it at the end of the 62 model year.

Near the end of June, 1962 so Yes, still a '62.

It seems like it should have the earlier front doglegs and flat rear wheel wells?

Whoah, super cool bus. What's the story on it? You should consider posting it in the Bus Hunting History thread. I like the rack setup.

I don't think this one has been officially added to this list. VIN is 508XXX, so a model year 1960, October '59 production date.

Everett, correct me if I'm wrong. But, I can recall you listed your bus for sale on the samba for $3500?

I love this bus. Out of my price range, but I would love to see it back on the road.

What state is that license plate from? This looks like a bus a buddy pulled out of a Missouri salvage yard. I remember the vents cut like that. He sold it cheap to a local flipper that then sold it on here years ago for $1,200. I never knew where it went from there. But this sure looks like it.

I can't remember for sure but I think that's correct.

Please remove if I'm out of line or on the wrong thread. Don't want to ruffle feathers but I didn't pull the trigger fast enough on this bus a couple weeks ago and it sold before i could make a move. If the new owner is on the forum I'd really love a crack at it if you decide to move it along.

I had to shoot my shot.

This bus has such a nice sun burnt patina and original interior. Great preservation!

orginalish interior lol. its far from perfect.. but i think that gives it a look of being og to the bus. i dont think i wil ever do a nap headliner again! the ice blue looks so freakin killer but was a major headache to install, the sides are worst part. all the window frames had to drill out rusty hinge screws, heat the hinges and kroil oil them to get them to move. its hard not to do a satin clear coat, add the 4th popouts, and slamming it, but im leaving it alone, sitting stock height, and once in a wile hit it with some wd40, a friend did that lin seed oil trick and it was like fly paper... so sticky hahaha.

I noticed in this 1963 15-Window ad:
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2748895
the seller said:
Quote:
- VIN: 1140430
- Manufactured: 5th July 1963
- One of the very last 15 Window Sambas ever built (production ended 11 July 1963 – I believe there was only one more was made after this on the 8th.

I had not heard that before on the end of 15-Window production but it's possible due to the change to the large rear hatch and general gearing up for the new 1964 model style and the normal VW factory shutdown/vacation in July.

One note though, I think he means July 12th as this Bus with VIN # 1144277 has a confirmed date of July 12th, 1963 from VW:
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=621849

My 1963 15-Window is July 8th so there are at least 2 later ones - July 8th and July 12th.
