LoL@ kafer ;-)
Yeah, those panels are hard to get and you must be happy with what you find these days if you are low on budget (like me;-)) but keep up the faith and if you find one for cheap dont let it go even when its rusted, its a great oportunity to learn welding/restoring a car, i had to learn it also so I know its worth it, no matter howlong it takes you to make it a driver again.
If you have the chance to buy one cheap go for it.
BTW: i could use a pair of barndoor/early split semaphoreposts, anyone is able to cut out a pair for me? as much metal to work whit as possible please, mines are removed in the 60's I guess...
Thanks in advance,
Peter. |

Paul, I have found a panel for you. It's a 55 and looks to be is better condition than the ones in your pictures. No drivers door but looks fairly straight. It is in Canada and might be worth the trip. I will try to include a picture of it. |

Yeah but the frontsection could be replaced, the combination with the rearvents gave more arguments its not a barndoor.

Lets see, I have had 3 BD. 1 55 panel sold to a guy in Phoenix, 1 55 BD Deluxe sold to a guy in Orange, Cali and a 54 Deluxe that the chassis fell out of when loading it on the trailer. I am now trying to get a 53/54 BD Deluxe that was bought at a police auction back in 1966/67 for 50 bucks. It was the one of the first VW's put in the wrecking yard and has at least 400 vehicles blocking it in. Been waiting over 3 years now to get it. Eventually he will have enough moved to get it out. |

In this case, it is a bus that looks like it has been hit by a falling barn door. |
