Whoever has their Deep 6's modified to a 4.5, have the shop take some pics of the slicing and welding and post em up.

OK guys, time for you to step up to the plate.

Yesterday I went down to Green's with an original Deep 6 in hand.
To chop it down on the outside as far as possible will cost $175CAD, this converts to $150USD. Having looked at it, Bob said no problem narrowing that wheel.

If you wanted to widen your original 4½s by adding 1½" on the backside, that costs $225CAD, or $193USD each.

Give Jamie a call, 604 278 5937

All you have to do is box them up and UPS them to Green's. When you describe the contents, state "Used wheels sent for repairs".

I don't see anything there about making a 6" with a 4.5 face on it.

I see making a 4.5 into a 6 (why would you do this??)
I also see making a 6 into a 4.5 ( I can kinda see this)

Maybe I'm wrong

Greg, I had a Deep 6 in hand. Chopping "it" on the outside as far as possible will make "it" look like the pic above, don't you see that?

If you look at that pic, you can still see the weld by the outer rim. That must be machined down smooth for the bead to seal properly. That ledge must also be at least 3/4" wide to support the bead.
I just measured a wheel and it looks like you can only remove 1¼-1 3/8" in order to leave a 3/4" bead seat width.
