I can't help with the identity, but that sure is a good looking car. I'm sure you'll have an answer soon. |

Hopefully someone can help me confirm the year of the donor car and engine, identify the buggy kit manufacturer would also be a bonus but trying to order parts for chassis and engine to get it running again. The engine number is 0566027 and chassis number is 1244651, based on the list under technical data the chassis was produced June 1956 but I think the engine may be an earlier date. Appreciate an insight
Thanks

Motor looks to be April 64 bus motor, 1500cc, and you are correct on the chassis being June 56. I have that same body. I think it's an El Lobo, https://www.google.com/search?sca_esv=0619bf7b847f...&dpr=1 I have another buggy I picked up in October 24, That body is a KC Clipper made in Kansas City. What's weird is it a completely different body than yours, but it has the same seat, Mustang, Mirrors, also Mustang, Steering wheel, maybe Mustang, and fuel filler cap, maybe Mopar.

Thanks for the quick response, I think you are correct about the El Lobo kit. Mine was built in the 70’s and assuming the 64-66 mustang parts were showing up in the junk yards and the seats are a perfect fit for the platform. Never thought about looking at the bus engine numbers just assumed it was type 1. Are there any other easy differences on a bus engine that may confirm it is definitely a bus motor. |

No real difference that I'm aware of with the motor. I don't know why VW would have had a different numbering system for the Bug and the Bus. Just for record keeping I guess. |
