What's the deal with the back reflector? Is it 1 or 2 or any for a '56 kombi? Any information, pics, mounting dimensions would be appreciated.

"in '52, they went for two"

after BD, they are high up, like the pic above.

2 reflectors, one under each taillight.

55-57 are "small diamonds".

You want reflectors, not big taillights

Everett is right. Get the correct reflectors and play catch with your dog with those frisbees that are on there now. Good boy.

'55 Barndoor is.

I've had a couple original reflectors from a '55 Panel before, they were small diamond. Text on the reflector edge, no text on the lens itself.

you guys are crazy, the correct way to install tractor taillights is to start from the original hole, and cut pie slices with shears and bend all the slices inward till the body of the tractor light fits. then just screw that bad boy in with a couple sheet metal screws.

i dont know why people got to insist on reinventing the wheel.......

start saving your pennies. good ones are not cheap, and finding matched pairs get expensive, and they don't come up for sale all that frequently.

price went up on this since this morning.

this just ended on ebay. wonder what the reserve was. anyone know? Wink

they are NOT hella reflectors. they are glass and are nice assemblies, but they are not Hella. They look ok, and would be fine for a driver where anal originality was not the main issue. look around though, because the price fluctuates. i've seen them as low as $90 a pair shipped, to $125 shipped, all from the same guy!

Yes, that guy posts prices at random. He also puts the same stuff on eBay too where it is usually WAY below his asking price on the site.

here's a pic of one of them on a bus:
http://thesamba.com/vw/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=108256

i recently paid $175 for a pair of super duper nice Hella reflectors (claimed to be "replacement" reflectors above). was happy to pay it considering their condition. would have paid the same for the ebay ones, but the reserve was not met.

Looks good. I have been looking for 5 years for 2/'55 barndoor reflectors at a decent price. My bus is beat, so no need for NOS. I have some later cracked reflectors that will fill a hole for someone.
