I have just bought a new PICT 34 carby for a stock 1600 and notice when I shut the motor off teh nozzle continues to drip fuel for a while.

Would that be a faulty float level cutoff?

been thinking about this for a few days now and it sounds more like the " one way check ball" in the accelerator pump circuit is stuck. the float level would make the car flood fuel out the vent tube.

Try tapping on the carb body around the accel pump area with something when it occurs and see what happens.

Hi Gavin,
Could be a bad shut off valve, too heavy or leaky float, or too long/high of push rod under the pump. So check your fuel pump push rod for how high it comes out of the pump stand with the pump off the engine. If it is within factory specs, try replacing the shut off valve, and if still no luck try replacing the float.
