Trying to install the keepers with my big fingers is pissing me off. The problem lies in having to compress the spring with one hand and trying to get the keepers in position with the other. I've tried grease, to help them cling to the stem which works fine once they are in position. It's getting them that far that is the dilemma. I have the bench mounted spring compressor that has a handle attached to cup that has access holes on either side to insert the keepers through. It's a pain and am wondering if anyone has any tricks up their sleeves? Wink

Something like these...

Seem to remember something (just pliers part) on one of the rotary "tool displays" at local NAPA...

Got a old "spring type" clothes pin?? Spread jaws, put a little grease in jaws put keepers in jaws.... "Wrap" around valve stem...Release... Pretty much the same a "keeper pliers"

I just compress drop them in and release slowley. you might need to make a longer handle so it is easy to compress and you could make a hook/loop to hold the handle down while you install the kepers then release.

Magnet and a piece of welding wire is what I use.

I just use my fingers!
Actually, you can put a very small dab of grease on the valve stem and it helps keep the keepers in place!

I use a pair of 10" long tweezers that I got at the "Made in China" tool store.

I do pretty much the same. A pencil type magnet in one hand and an o-ring pick in the other. A little bit of tacking grease in the grooves and they go right in and stay until i let the spring clamp go. Ray

There we go. A third hand is what I need! I'll give it a shot tonight. Let you know. Thanks for all of the ideas. Too bad you couldn't magnetize the valve itself, then they would jump right on there. Laughing

Bingo. That was the trick. Tied the handle down so I had two hands to work with. Thanks again folks.
