| Have any of you Americans ever tried to cash a Canadian postal money order before? Did you have any problems? Did your bank turn you away saying that Canadians use a 10 digit tracking number and Americans use a 9? I'm perplexed, I've sent probably a dozen of these into the US without issue... WTF? If you have cashed them, what bank did you use? Thanks. Oh, and the amount was in US dollars!! |

Canadian Money order will not work in the US, and Vice-versa. Anytime you send or recieve a payment between the two you need to ask for an International Money Order. They are the only money orders that will work between the two. _________________ The memories of a man in his old age, are the deeds of a man in his prime.

Never had a problem. The buyer must have sent you an International Money Order, which is what a US bank would require. Where do you bank? Even my credit union put a 10-day hold on the ones I received because they had to go through a clearing house. _________________ West Virginia State Board of Education v. | I should have been more clear. I'm the Canadian and I sent a Canada Post Money Order in US funds to a feller down in Virginia. I have done this before without any problems, well none that anyone until now has alerted me to. I wonder if a cheque cashing place would be easier to deal with down there? Any other ideas? |

I have also sent many many Canadian Postal money orders made out in US DOLLERS to many US states and never had a problem with a vendor not being able to cash them. _________________ Marina Blue Stock 74 Standard Beetle Sedan |

I've cashed personal checks from Canada before, and the bank always has to flag them, and send them through separately with different paperwork...takes an extra week or two to clear...I think I got a Canadian MO in the last batch of t-shirt sales, and it was the same process... _________________ <---Air Cooled Search & Rescue Team - STICKERS & T-shirts for sale!

Any US Post Office will cash a Canadian Money Order.
But my local bank won't. Go figure. _________________ The 68 Ghia

Would that include certified checks? I've never sent a personal check, and wouldn't because I know this will cause the other person a problem, but should't be a problem with a certified check, its just like cash. _________________ Marina Blue Stock 74 Standard Beetle Sedan |

That must vary by bank - it's free at my bank, just takes some time...(I'm with the NC State Employees' Credit Union, which helps - they don't have a lot of the fees that most banks charge) _________________ <---Air Cooled Search & Rescue Team - STICKERS & T-shirts for sale!

I've had no problems so far with sending money orders to the U.S. It does take a little longer to receive your supplies. More people are using Pay Pal, and that has been working very well SO FAR. _________________ Water is for toilets.

I sent a postal mo to canada a few months ago for an aution I won. Turned out they would not take it. She had to return it and I got an international MO that was specifically for Canada. _________________ The memories of a man in his old age, are the deeds of a man in his prime.

I've never had a problem cashing Canadian POSTAL money orders. Just take it to the post office. I've also sent US POSTAL money orders to our buddys up north and never had an issue. Ship the bank if its postal... go postal also, the only problem with using paypal is if you are sending the money to someone you don't have to pay a fee. Yet the person recieving the money does have to pay a fee. It's not big but selling a lot of stuff it starts to add up. Just go POSTAL _________________ I had the same problem... It's a Volkswagen |
