alrightr well i just got my new engine started and all, and it seems to be smoking from the exhaust. at first it was smoking black when i first started it, but it went away really quick, and now its just smoking, but i cant tell if it is blue or white smoke. any ideas?

Possibly burn off from the exhaust, assuming that the exhaust is new as well??

Check and confirm oil level. Is the fuel fresh? Besides the smoke how is the motor performing at idle, acceleration and deceleration??

I'm sure others will chime in with much more thought. Just thought I'd get you going.

alright yeah i need to put new fuel in the tank. i have a full tank of gas that is way over a year old, but im not sure where and how ima drain it.

yeah i have confirmed some of the smoke is from the exhaust, but from out of the pip there is alot of smoke, and the engine idles perfect. it idles a little high, but thats cause i haven't had anything adjusted yet.,

Did you do a proper break-in?
Usually 20 minutes at 2K RPM.

How did you assemple the piston/cylinders?
Lots of oil maybe?

i had a shop do the longblock, and well the smoke has pretty much gone away. i just need to get the carbs adjusted

did you pull a plug? should tell you what is burning...too much fuel or oil.
