I entered my SC in the World of Wheels at the Stampede grounds this past weekend.
It was dominated by shiny American muscle, amongst other interesting rods and bikes and such.
My SC was one of two original paint vehicles selected to enter and won best in class for conventional pickup.
What I think is cool though, is that of all the cars there, the SC was the one chosen for this little shot in one of the free local papers.

That's cool. It seems like any time you take a bus to a non-vw car show, you steal the spotlight from all those meticulously restored muscle cars, and classics. Even when I pull into a show with my rusty, beat-up old buses everyone gathers round. There's just something magnetic about them, even to non-vw people. I've even had alot of people want to sit inside and have their pictures taken. I tell them to go ahead but just be careful around the jagged edges. Sometimes I get the impression the muscle car guys don't like it very well.
Nice looking sc BTW, and congrats! _________________ "Cross Country Trip" http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5...highlight= |

Well, thats very easy to fix having the muscle guys left out. Just go ask them if you can sit in their car and have your picture taken, My bus is also a daily driver in fix up process, but couldnt even count the number of snap shots I had to pose for in my bus. One was at a gas station. Good to hear your getting the maximum amout of enjoyability out of your sc. _________________ Waiting for santa to drop off funky green. I can wish can't I???? |

This is so true.
I took my vert to a hot rod show just to hang out with other VW people and half way threw show a man handed me a yellow ribbon then said your car was picked for top ten cars and asked me to pull up next to the other nine cars in front of stage then after an hour they they said my car won best of show. Man was all the hot rodders mad!! I thanked them for the recognition and said how could I win when I didn't even enter. _________________

I bet that made them even more mad! Haha! How many '69 Camaros does the world need anyway so unoriginal at this point, at least at car shows around here. _________________ Sam

You've got me stoked. I'm bringing my 67 standard to World of Wheels in Winnipeg at the beginning of April. I'll let you know how it goes.
Fellow sambafites - come see me at the show and say hi. _________________ What can we build for you?

It really made one guy really mad. He spent way to much money on his car and thought since this was a hot rod show a VW shouldn't be able to win.
I offered trophy to him but the judges said it was a car show with mostly hot rods and that I deserved the win.
I whole thing was funny.
On side note the next year car show flyer said American car show. _________________
